2019-20 NOVICE PROGRAM

Season runs from mid September - May

This upcoming season, we are offering two age-based novice programs:

  • Novice 11-12; and
  • Novice  13+.

Novice swimmers should be comfortable and able to swim unassisted in deep water.

Athletes compete as the age they will be on December 31, 2020 (the upcoming 2019 competitive season).

For example, if your child is born in October 2008 (as of June 2019 they are currently 10 years old), they will be registered and will compete as a 12-year-old, since they will turn 12 in the year that the majority of competitions will be held for the 2020 season. For example:

LTAD (Long term athlete development) focuses in this program are:

9-12: Learn to Train - fun, physical literacy, synchro skill development and competition experience.

13+: Sport for Life - fun, physical literacy and fitness

  • Year-end Watershow

 

The watershow is mandatory as it is essential in a team sport to have a full team present. Dates will be announced as soon as possible.

Competitions

There are three competitions for novice swimmers. Competition dates and locations for the 2019-20 season are still being finalized by Ontario Artistic Swimming and will be shared as soon as they are finalized.

 

  1. Early Bird Skills Testing (November 2) - Ottawa

  2. Trillium Regionals (February 7-9) - Ottawa

  3. Novice Provincial Championships - May 1-3. Ottawa

 

Attendance to all meets is mandatory to participate in the Novice program. Ontario Artistic Swimming requires a medical note if a swimmer is not able to participate. Missing a meet may result in a swimmer not being allowed to attend subsequent events.

 

Equipment Needed

The list below includes the MANDATORY merchandise and equipment for Novice swimmers for the 2019-2020 season:

  • Routine Suit (included in fees)

  • GO Capital Synchro cap (included in fees)

  • Club t-shirt

  • White Swim cap

  • Plain black figure suit

  • Nose clips

  • Goggles

  • Practice swim cap

  • Practice swim suit

 

Fees

 

A non-refundable deposit of $250.00 is due at time of registration. Fees detailed below can be paid in full or in installments based on the fee schedule available during registration.

Fees include Ontario Artistic Swimming registration fee, routine suit, and Club swim cap, team photo, year-end banquet ticket and local meet fees

* Important * Registration fees DO NOT include travel (hotel, food, transportation, coach per diem), out of town meet fees, or additional merchandise. These expenses will be invoiced separately as incurred.

Holiday and Pool Closure dates

Schedules will be subject to exception dates due to pool closures, special events and holidays. In order to accommodate these, some practice times and locations may be rescheduled or canceled. These dates will be shared as soon as they become available.

New athletes to GO Capital Synchro and Team Unify will be asked to create an account and log-in before starting the registration.
