President's Message

Message from the President

On behalf of the Olympian Swim Club’s Board of Directors, I’d like to welcome you to the 2017-2018 swim season.

Last year was the beginning of a change for our club.  Nathan Kindrachuk was hired on as our new Head Coach.  Nathan’s commitment to swimming, and particularly to our club, has contributed to a renewed sense of optimism among our swimmers and families.  The club enjoyed a successful season last year, and Nathan and his coaching staff look to build on those successes this season.

I would like to welcome back our returning coaches.  Lesley Serediak, Colleen Marhese, Lori Layne Kremer, Loubna Laaouad, and Jorgan Klein who has moved up from the Mini-O’s program to the competitive program.  I am also thrilled to welcome to our club some new coaches.  Caitlin Kamminga, Brian McGrath, Kristan Kushlyk, Victoria Lovsin, Agnieszka Howat, Berkley Nowlan, Julia Lema, and Jasper Fung have joined our club and I hope that they are as excited as I am for this upcoming season.  I am sure that the enthusiasm and experience of our coaching staff will help propel our swimmers to a  season full of personal bests.

As in previous years, our club is hosting the JP Fiset Invitational swim meet in December.  This is our flagship meet, and is recognized as one of the premier meets in Alberta.  It takes a lot of volunteers to host a successful swim meet, and OSC families have always stepped up to the plate.  We have a reputation as hosting some of the most successful meets, and I am looking forward to seeing many of our swimmers’ parents, relatives, families and friends on the pool deck.  We will also continue to host our successful 10 & Under Series out of Fountain Park Pool.  This series of 4 swim meets is well attended by younger swimmers throughout Northern Alberta.  We will also be hosting the second edition of the Mystery Meet.  However, this year it will be in late April, and is sure to attract some fast swimmers.

In addition this year, Swim Alberta has awarded our club with the Spring Championships.  This is a high level meet in March, and will be attended by the fastest swimmers in the province.  I am sure that our fantastic group of volunteers will all work together to help make this meet a success.

I would like to welcome back our returning swimmers and families.  I have enjoyed working with you, socializing with you, and cheering with you over the years.  I look forward to doing the same this year and for years to come.

I would also like to welcome all of our new swimmers and families.  Thank you for choosing the Olympian Swim Club.  I am confident that the family atmosphere of our club, combined with the quality of our coaching staff and program, will leave you feeling like you made the right choice.

We want every swimmer and family to enjoy their experience with the Club.  If, for any reason, you have any concerns or suggestions regarding the club, please feel free to contact me or any other Board Member.
