Prince George Barracuda Swim Club Post-Secondary Entrance Scholarship(s)
Amount: Maximum $1000 per applicant
Number Available: Up to five (Funds for distribution, up to $4000 annually)
Automatic Consideration: No
Pre-requisite Activity: Minimum of three seasons of swimming with PGBSC
Application Deadline: June 1st
Year of Study: Entering post-secondary education
School of Study: Any post-secondary institution (i.e. college, university, technical school)
Course Load: Full-time (as outlined by the accepting post-secondary institute)
Student athletes learn “3 P’s” that extend beyond the classroom: persistence, patience, and practice. The discipline of athletic training provides such lifelong skills including: time management skills; creativity in finding ways to improve; strong focus and concentration development; internal skills for handling pressure; and taking responsibility for individual performance.
The Prince George Barracuda Swim Club encourages its participants to continue to pursue a lifestyle of excellence. This award recognizes the student’s participation in the Prince George Barracuda Swim Club in addition to their other involvements and accomplishments.
Preferential consideration will be given to applicants who:
- continue to swim competitively during post-secondary studies
- have demonstrated mentorship as a Junior coach for the PGBSC
Criteria for successful applicants include:
- Academic excellence
- Barracuda attendance & team participation
- Community / school / extracurricular activities
- Personal integrity
- Positive attitude
Late applications will not be considered.
Proof of full-time post-secondary registration will be required prior to fund disbursement.
