FAMILY POINTS

  1. Why do we need the points system?

RHAC is a non-profit organization that is run by volunteers who have a busy life like you. The points system is a way to encourage parents to be more involved with club activities which are crucial to a successful swim club. Without committed parents, we can’t run the club.

  2. How many points do I need to collect?

Each family will have to earn a minimum of 400 points each season through various club management and fundraising activities. It's important to note that a minimum of 100 points need to be earned in EACH of he RHAC hosted meets. Refer to the meets calendar to note which ones those are.

For points calculation, the swimming season starts on September 1st and ends on June 30th.

  3. What happens if I don’t collect the required points by the end of the season?

In fairness to the contribution among club members, every missed point will result in a charge of $4. The charges will be calculated and billed to the family’s account.

SWIM MEETS

  1. How many swim meets does RHAC host every year?

RHAC hosts three 3-days invitational meets each year. They are scheduled in October, January and May for the 2015/2016 season. Throughout the rest of the swim season, RHAC also hosts smaller Time Trials meets and Distance meets. The number of these meets varies from year to year.

  2. What kind of work or role can we sign up for during each swim meet?

RHAC requires a large number of Officials to run a meet, e.g. Timers, Stroke & Turn judges, Starters, etc. These tasks are specific for each official position and require prior training and certification. On the other hand, there are also a number of other positions which everyone can fulfill, e.g. kitchen helper, move helper, office admin.

  3. How come some Official and volunteer positions earn more family points?

Family points assigned to each position are based on the skills/training and amount of effort required. For example, Chief Timer earns more family points than Stroke and Turn judges because it requires more training and it is a higher Official position.
