History 2014-2015

 RHAC Team History 2014 - 2015

The 2014 – 2015 swim season marked the 44 year since the Richmond Hill Aquatic Club was formed.

The Club has now grown to 145 competitive Swimmers and 100 pre-competitive Swimmers. The Team of Coaches has grown also and now RHAC boasts a Staff of seven coaches led by Head Coach Konstantin Danailov.

Our RHAC Swimmers train at the Centennial, Richvale, Oak Ridges, Bayview Hills and Elgin West pools in Richmond Hill. We are also fortunate to be able to access both the University of Toronto and the Markham Pan Am Pool for long course training. In November 2014 RHAC moved to a larger Dryland Training facility to better serve the needs of the membership.

The Club continues to have a strong Meet Management and Officials Teams that organize Swim Meets and Time Trials to serve the needs of the RHAC Swimmers and the Swimming community in general.

In January 2015, RHAC hosted the inaugural ‘Ontario Launch Into Long Course’ competition at the Markham Pan Am Pool. The Meet was a great success attracting many local Clubs. It had a bit of an International flavour with the attendance of the Harbour Swim Club from Bermuda.

Harbour Swim Club from Bermuda attended the inaugural 'Launch Into Long Course' Invitational.

Social activities for the Swimmers remains important.

A Pancake Breakfast in the Fall, a Movie Day at Christmas and an Awards Banquet in the Spring are offered to the full Club membership. Group social activities are also encouraged and take many form.

One of the most popular is our ‘Social Breakfast’ that are held at the pool after practice or often at a nearby restaurant.

These Social activities go a long way towards building a strong Team.

This year with the Pan American Swimming Trials taking place in Toronto, RHAC organized an outing for Team Members to watch the competition. With over 100 Swimmers and Parents attending this served as both a great social activity as well as a motivator for all of our up and coming Swimmers as they saw the best Swimmers in Canada racing to earn a spot on the Pan Am Team.

RHAC continues to offer a full range of competitive opportunities for our Swimmers. Most of our competitions are Invitationals held in the Greater Toronto Area. Both Winter and Summer the RHAC Swimmers compete in a variety of Championship Meets based on their level of achievement. As the Swimmers gain in experience they aim for a Championship competition suited to the level they have qualified to compete at.

The Championship Meet progression moves from the Regional Team Champs and Regional Championships Meets to the Ontario Festivals and Provincial Championships competitions. With continued experience and improvement the RHAC Swimmers compete at the Eastern Canadian and Age Group National Championships. In time our very best competitors aim for the Canadian Summer Championships and Canadian Swimming Trials competitions.

RHAC also provides our Swimmers with opportunities to Travel. The past two years the Team has competed at the Windsor Invitational in May.
