Vacation Workouts

Swimming is a time intensive sport so when swimmers are not in the water for whatever the reason they are losing valuable training time.

At STAS we understand and encourage our swimmers to be with their families on vacation. Hopefully vacations can be planned to coincide with swimming down time but sometimes that is not possible. If you have a vacation planned during the season we suggest the following:

1. Contact your group coach to see if there are any big meets that may be affected by the vacation. Your group coach may be able to help find a window of time that would work well with your swimmers goals and your vacation plans.

2. Contact a team in the area that you are going and try to train with that team. You do not need to train everyday but training half the time or more will help you when you return. To find a USA Swimming team in the area you are staying you can go to the USA Swimming Club Portal here.

3. Do dryland workouts half the time or more. You may not have any equipment with you so if you can run for 20 minutes or ride for 45 minutes followed by a body weight dryland workout you will help yourself. You can find Body Weight Workouts here.
