Raised in the San Francisco Bay Area in a military family, Roman studied Industrial Engineering at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. After completing his undergraduate degree, he went on to earn an MBA from Santa Clara University. Early in his career, Roman worked in high tech for companies like Intel and Applied Materials, but the dot-com bust sent him in a new direction. He relocated to Los Angeles and moved into a financial planning business, doing everything from taxes and loans to investments and insurance. The 2008 financial meltdown had Roman searching for a more stable industry in which to use his talents. He looked to healthcare, and was recruited by The Canyon in 2008, where he’s become an integral part of the staff as Director of Operations. He connected instantly with the leadership and enjoys being part of a smaller team where he can have a larger impact.
Today, Roman makes his home in Redondo Beach with his wife and two children. Always drawn to active pursuits, he played rugby in high school and college and was involved in competitive shooting, competing in the Junior Olympics as a teen and ROTC in college. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Surfside as their communication director and volunteers with the Cub Scouts as Cub Master for his son's Pack....Pack 788. Inheriting her father’s drive, Roman's daughter has been swimming competitively with Surfside since 2013 and plays championship-level water polo with Roman serving as Assistant Coach.
