The overall group structure of our club has been updated and modified in order to maximize the long-term development of every individual swimmer in the club and our coaching staff. The new groupings are based on the following factors:

1) Physical Development

Swimmers will be grouped with other swimmers who are a similar level of physical maturity.  This will primarily be done by the age of the swimmer, with some consideration for those who may be very early or late developers if the coaching staff believes it is what is best for the individual swimmer

2) Current Performance Level

This will be determined by the swimmer’s current best times and the coaching staff’s insight on the swimmer current progress across all 4 strokes.  This will ensure that each swimmer in the group will have shared goals for the year and the coaches can cater the training program to those goals.

3) Commitment and Behavioural Standards

For groups with a higher performance standard, swimmers must also meet minimum attendance standards, as well as commit to the highest level of competition that group is training for.  This will ensure that swimmers who have chosen to commit to swimming can continue their development with the support of everyone in the group.  Swimmers who have not reached this level of commitment may be asked to swim with a different group appropriate for their physical development and current performance level until they have shown the commitment level required for groups that require higher performance standards.
