2018 FINA OPEN WATER CLINIC FOR TECHNICAL OFFICIALS
CAYMAN ISLANDS
11 JUNE - 18 JUNE 2018
Dear members,
 
We will be hosting a clinic for open water officials from 11 to 18 June 2018,  in conjunction with the Flowers Sea Swims and the UANA Open Water Championships.
 
We do anticipate that clinic participants may not be able to attend the sessions all week.  We know a number of you are already committing to the success of the Flowers Sea Swim Week. We would like to encourage you to make the schedule work for you.  We do, however, recommend that first time officials attend all the classroom sessions.
 
The classroom sessions will be held at the Governors Square Board Room , on the beach side, 2nd  floor, over the walk through.
 
Technical meetings will be held in the Dart Conference room on the third floor of the Dart building. Federations teams are required to have an official(s) in attendance. A van will be provided from the UANA Federation Hotel to the meeting site for Federation team officials. Please note the van will leave the hotel at 1:00 PM.
 
Race reviews will be at the race start and finish zone, the location in that particular area to be determined by Mr. Ryther at the time of the meeting.
 
FINA school officials are encouraged to attend and sit in on the technical meetings held for the participants;  however this is not a requirement.
 
The 2018 FINA Clinic in Grand Cayman has been designed around the opportunity to gain both classroom knowledge and practical experience. Participants will have the opportunity to gain experience in multiple roles over the course of the Flowers Sea Swims and UANA Open Water Championships.

FINA OPEN WATER SCHOOL FOR OFFICIALS IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC 

 A FINA Open Water Swimming School for Officials is scheduled to be held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic (DOM), from 3rd to 4th March 2017.  

The purpose of this course is to achieve the following objectives:  

  • Enlarge the number of officials and enhance the quality of the existing ones; 
  • Create a uniform pattern of interpretation and application of Open Water Swimming rules, thus raising the quality of officiating; 
  • Use the course as an instrument to develop and promote Open Water Swimming worldwide.  

Please note the following information related to the designation & courses for open water swimming officials:  

  • Officials who have passed a FINA OWS School will receive a certification, which is valid for a 4-year period.
  • FINA OWS Officials List N° 12 (valid from January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2020): all new applications, not including renewals, must have attended and passed a FINA OWS School. 
  • FINA OWS Officials List N° 13 and all subsequent FINA OWS Officials Lists: all new applicants and renewals must have attended and passed a FINA OWS School.

Please kindly note that the specific discipline of the school must be added to the attendee’s GMS profile as well as his/her personal email address in order to submit the registration.

NATIONALITY:  Please take into consideration that when a competition official represents his/her country in a competition, he/she shall be a citizen, whether by birth or naturalisation, of the nation he/she represents, provided that a naturalised citizen shall have lived in that country for at least one year prior to that competition (FINA Handbook 2015-2017, General Rules 2.5).

CLINICA FINA para entrenadores de Aguas Abiertas

La FECONA tiene el gusto de informar que del domingo 15 de noviembre al viernes 20 de noviembre, se estará impartiendo con el auspicio de FINA, la Clínica para entrenadores de aguas abiertas y nado de fondo, a cargo del renombrado experto cubano, Tomás Haces.

 
El cupo es de 25 personas, el requisito para el caso de Costa Rica, es ser entrenador líder o del cuerpo de entrenadores de asociaciones federadas.  Y por tanto la Asociación debe proponerlo.
 
El domingo 15, las actividades se realizarán en el Tennis Club y el resto de la semana en las salas de capacitación (Sección Federaciones) del Estadio Nacional.

OPEN WATER CLINIC FOR OFFICIALS IN ANTIGUA

We extend an invitation to all of you to participate in our 2015 FINA Open Water Clinic which will run from Monday 9th to Thursday 12th November 2015 in St. John’s, Antigua.

Our facilitator is Jorge Delgado of Ecuador who will also be the Chief Referee for our two Open Water events – 29th ABSF National Open Water Championship and 1st OECS Open Water Championship.

The clinic sessions will be held from 5:30 pm – 8 pm. The open water event on the Sunday 8th November 2015 will be considered a practical component of the course.

There is no registration fee.

Please share this information with your members and volunteers.  Kindly indicate by October 27th persons desirous of doing the clinic as well as any persons willing to act as officials for the open water event.  Please fill out the registration form accompanying this invitation and return it to techdir@absf.ag.
