Meet The Owners

Nancy Hennessey and Chris Oliver are a dynamic duo! They are both nationally awarded swim team coaches; they are married with three young children; and they've made their dream come true - by opening Splash Jax Swim School.

A Career In Coaching and Teaching:  Coach Nancy Hennessy and Coach Chris Oliver have worked with all levels of swimmers from infant to Olympian to 90 year old masters swimmers, see full bio's below.  The have coached in 3 of the best swim programs in the country.  Locally, they have worked with the Bolles School Sharks and built one of the best 12 and under programs in the country.  Now they are very excited to turn their great coaching talents to the most important level of learning to swim, the beginner.  They bring great enthusiasm and love to teaching swimming that is infectious to other coaches and most importantly, to the swimmers.

A Dream Come True:  Their dream has always been to give back to their community the gift of swimming. They both grew up in neighborhoods with pools and on swim team. The pool was such a great source of growth and strength for them. they want every child to experience the same gifts they did by being involved with a local swimming program.

Davidson Pool History:  The Splash Jax pool was a well know Jacksonville Swim School ran by Coach John Carraway for over 40 years! It is wonderful being able to continue the legacy that he started at this location. Our favorite moments are when parents bring their children to swim lessons and get excited because they learned how to swim in the same pool from John Carraway.

Nancy's Full Bio

Nancy is a native of Louisville, KY.  She began her swimming career at the age of 4 with a summer league club.  At the age of 9 she joined the Lakeside Seahawks in year-round competitive swimming.  From there she went on to achieve success at the state, regional and national level, qualifying for the Olympic Trials.  She then went on to swim as a scholarship athlete at Vanderbilt University.

After an 8 year break from the sport, she returned to the pool, on the deck this time as an age group coach for Nashville Aquatic Club.  In this role she worked with developmental athletes as well as being a senior assistant which finally led to her role as the Head Age Group Coach.

In 1998 she moved to Jacksonville as the Head Age Group Coach of the Bolles Sharks.  She served in this role for 9 years coaching the Sharks to several FLAG Championship team titles as well as individual titles and records.  She coached over 100 National Top 16 swimmers, Zone Champions and many athletes that went on to excel in Senior Level swimming as well as NCAA  swimming.

She has been a national speaker at National Swimming Conventions and has served as a member of the National Panel of Age Group Coaches for USA Swimming on two different terms.

She moved to Gainesville in 2007 where she became the Head Coach for Gator Swim Club.  Under her direction, the team moved from 26th place to 4th place at FLAGs while also winning the Female Team Champion title.  They also achieved the Silver Medal Club status awarded by USA Swimming.

Nancy joined the Bolles Sharks again in 2011 - 2016.  She was thrilled to be back “home” doing what she loves while also having more time to be with her family.

In her free time Nancy loves to play tennis and exercise, be with her family and volunteer at her children’s schools.
