Group Lessons: Levels 1 - 10
The Clarence Learn-to-Swim offers year round lessons for swimmers interested in learning the four competitive strokes (Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, and Butterfly). Lessons are open to children ages 4 years old and up. The Clarence Learn-to-Swim divides its lessons into 10 different levels, each focusing on a specific set of skills.
Level 1-7 lessons are scheduled for half hour sessions at the Clarence Middle School Pool. Our instructor to student ratio is 1:4.
Level 8-10 lessons are scheduled for a full hour. Our instructor to student ratio is 1:7. Please see the class registration forms for information regarding pool location.
Adaptive Learn-to-Swim are reserved for children with a classified disability or significant medical condition.
- Adaptive Level 1: Water Safety & Recreation, is for swimmers who are just becoming comfortable with the water. These children are NOT able to swim independently and require 1:1 adult support in the water. Classes are held once each week for a half an hour, at Clarence Middle School. The typical age of swimmers in the Adaptive Level 1 Class are between the ages of 4 - 9 years old.
- Adaptive Level 2, Stroke Mechanics, is for swimmers who are able to float, tread water, and maintain balance in the water independently. These children are capable of participating in small group instruction 1:2 or 1:3 coach to swimmer ratio. At this level we will be teaching proper stroke technique. These swimmers may have an interest in competing in the Special Olympics Aquatic Division. Classes are held twice each week for a half an hour, at Clarence Middle School. The typical age of swimmers in the Adaptive Level 2 Class are between the ages of 8 - 16 years old.
Parent & Child
Parent & Child Swim Program is for children between the ages of 2 – 4 years old. This class requires a parent to enter the water with their child and participate in each of the lesson's activities. The 30 minute class will introduce children to basic swimming skills and water safety through games, songs and play.
High School Prep
High School Prep: is designed for swimmers 8th - 12th grade looking to improve their technique and train for their upcoming High School Swim Season. Practices are 90 minutes and designed to incorporate drills and stroke refinement, along with endurance training.
