What Level

Parent & Child Introduce your baby to life in the water! This class is for parents and children ages 6 months to 35 months. We will spend time getting comfortable in the water and start to teach basic water skills. 
 

Toddler This class is for children ages 2-3. It will teach water acclimation and putting their face in the water. Class size limited to 2 students.

Level 1

10 Relaxed Wall bobs with bubbles and air exchange **
Blowing Bubbles
Breath holding and release
Gradual water adaptation
Movement in the water
Opening eyes underwater
Submersion of the face

This class is for the new or anxious/tentative swimmer. This class will be taught in shallow water with lots of smiles and laughter. The goal for this class is for the student to do 10 bobs with air exchange.

Level 2

Back Float and recover
Back Ready Position
Back glide and recover (5 seconds) **
Front Float and Recover
Front Glide and recover (5 seconds) **
Front Ready Position
Jumping Bobs
Streamline Bobs

This class will continue to build each swimmers comfort level an confidence in the water. The focus on the class will be to develop floating and gliding skills. Coaches will assist swimmers as they begin to develop a sense of balance and body control in the water. There were be lots of smiles and positive encouragement for each swimmer.

Level 3

Back kick, glide and recover (15 feet) **
Dolphin kick, glide and recover
Front kick, glide and recover (15 feet) **
Porpoising
Seesaw body movement
Sitting and sculling

This class will continue to build each swimmers comfort level an confidence in the water. The focus in the class is to begin developing skills for swimmers to propel themselves through the water using their legs. Coaches will assist swimmers as they begin to develop kicking skills. There were be lots of smiles and positive encouragement for each swimmer.

Level 4

Backward Somersault
Backwards Bobs

Freestyle/crawl armstroke (20 feet) **
Rollover - Front to back/back to front
Sculling
Side- Gilde- Kick (20 feet) **Swimmers in level 4 are now comfortable in the water and will build on their new gliding and kicking skills to begin building their freestyle "front crawl" stroke. 

Level 5

Backstroke
Double somersaults
Freestyle stroke with rotary breathing (30 feet)
Handstands
Horizontal headfirst sculling

Swimmers in level 5 will learn to swim with rhythmic breathing cycles while swimming freestyle arm strokes.

Level 6

Jump in and tread water
Kneeling Dive
Sitting Dive
Standing Dive
Swim Backstroke 30 feet ***
Swim Freestyle 75 feet (rotary breathing) ***
Treading Water (1 minute) ***

Swimmers in level 6 will work to be able to swim 25 yards of freestyle with rotary breathing, swim 30 feet of backstroke and tread water for 1 minute. Swimmers will also learn how to safely dive head first into the water.9

Private Lessons Swimmers in private lessons will work at their own pace to achieve the SwimAmerica goals or their own personal goals.

Levels 7-10:

Swimmers in levels 7-10 learn and refine the breaststroke kick and arm strokes, the butterfly arms and kick as well as turns. Additionally, swimmers will apply their new freestyle and backstroke skills to building endurance and strength in the water by working to complete multiple lengths of the pool without too much rest.

Upon graduation from the Raider Ready stroke school, swimmers will be able to:

-Swim 300 yards with bilateral breathing ( breathing on both sides)

-Swim 100 yards backstroke

-Swim 100 yard Individual Medley (1 length each stroke).
