Swim Team Groups
Each swimmer is placed with a coach to work on stroke development according to their swimming abilities. Coaching staff speak the same language so transitions from one coach to another is seamless.
Erin coaches the developmental swimmers in lane 1. Emphasis is placed on learning legal strokes, body position and balance in the water, and having fun. Swimmers are offered 6 practices per week to choose from, of which they may attend up to 3. Practices will begin with 15 minutes of dryland with the rest of the team, then swimmers will be in the pool for 1 hour with at least 1 break in the middle.
Lane 2 swimmers continue to improve stroke technique. Specifically, swimmers will focus on starts, turns and completely 50s of all 4 strokes legally. Swimmers are encouraged to attend practice 3 days per week.
In lane 5 and lane 6, swimmers continue to work on stroke technique with an emphasis on conditioning. Swimmers in lane 6 are encouraged to attend practice 3-4 times per week. 7 practices per week are offered including a practice on Saturday. Swimmers in lane 5 are encouraged to attend practice 5-6 times per week. Both groups do dryland after practice on Tuesday and Thursdays so swimmers will need to bring gym clothes, sneakers, and a sweatshirt or jacket as we try to go outside as much as possible in the spring, summer, and fall.
The senior group swims with Head Coach Gordon 6-8 times per week, plus post-practice dryland on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. In this group, swimmers will continue to refine strokes, improve race techniques, and place a heavy emphasis on conditioning with the goal of of competing at the State, Sectional, or Junior National level at the end of each season.
