Yellow Groups

Yellow Group 1 (7 - 12 year-olds) 

Swimmers must be proficient in all four strokes, as well as, dives and flip turns. 

Coaches continue to focus on stroke technique, drills, kicking, starts and turns, while introducing interval training and reading the clock. Race pace sprinting and/or relays are included at the end of many practices. 

We recommend swimmers in this group attend at least 3-5 practices a week to achieve satisfactory progress. 

We strongly encourage swimmers in this group to compete in a meet at least once a month (either year-round and/or summer league meets). 

Equipment: swimsuit, goggles, cap, equipment bag, fins, paddles, snorkel, nose clip, alignment kick board

Yellow Group 2  (8 - 13 years-olds)

Swimmers must be proficient in all four strokes, as well as, dives and flip turns. Swimmers must also know how to read a clock for interval training.

Coaches continue to focus on stroke technique, drills, kicking, starts and turns, but put increasing emphasis on interval training to create an endurance base. Race pace sprinting and/or relays are included at the end of many practices.

Swimmers in this group must have at least one 10&Under State time.

In order to swim in this group, swimmers should be able to swim:

8x100 yards freestyle on 1:45

8x100 yards IM on 2 min

We recommend that 8 - 9 year-old swimmers in this group attend at least 4-5 practices a week and 10-13 year-old swimmers attend at least 5-6 practices a week to achieve satisfactory progress.

We strongly encourage swimmers in this group to compete in a year-round meet at least once a month. They are also welcome to compete in any of the summer league meets.
