Team Uniforms & Ordering Information
With any sports team, a uniform is required to play in games or participate in competitions. A uniform can be as simple as wearing the same t-shirt, or as complicated as having every person match right down to their socks. Why, as coaches, do we make these requirements? Because having a uniform can make or break that team and its ability to succeed.
Uniforms can foster a sense of unity. When you are all wearing the same cap or same suit, it can really make you feel like you belong to that group. When swimmers feel that sense of unity, you are more inclined to try your best for your team.
Uniforms can also help foster a sense of identity. We know that sports aren’t everything, but when you put on that uniform, you feel like you’re part of something larger than just yourself. You become more aware of the other members of your team, and your community.
Finally, team uniforms can bring about a feeling of equality. Every member of the team plays an important role in the team’s success. No one is better or worse than anyone else. You are all in this together, and you are all trying your best to compete!
These reasons, and many more, are why here on the Dolphins we do require all swimmers to wear a team suit and cap at all of our events. All swimmers must wear the team suit. We provide swimmers with latex caps, but encourage all swimmers to purchase silicone caps with their last names on them in addition to the suit. Anything else on our team website you would like to purchase is just an extra way for your swimmer to identify as a Dolphins teammate.
Remember that each swimmer must wear a team suit to meets, and since all swimmers are required to attend two meets, everyone must have a suit! It is the same suit as last year, so if the suit still fits your swimmer, you do not have to purchase another one. All orders must be in by September 23rd. Check out this page for information on how to order!
As our team uniform coordinator, Deb Furtado has given us a few times & dates for suit fittings. If you have any questions about the team uniform, suit fittings, etc. please let her know by emailing her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
