Wallingford Family YMCA Dolphins Suit Protocol
Effective April 18th, 2016

The Wallingford Family YMCA Dolphins swim team dedicates itself to helping swimmers of all abilities reach his or her highest potential.  In order to stay true to that mission, a suit protocol has been put into place effective April 18th, 2016. The following document describes, in detail, the expectations for each member of WFYD with regard to suits and caps.

SPEEDO TEAM SUIT & CAP
All swimmers must own the team suit. We provide each swimmer on the team a latex team cap, but we also give you an option to order silicone caps. Our current team suit is the Speedo Deep Within Flyback (females) or Jammer (males) in purple. The competition suit should fit snuggly to reduce drag. Do not wear your team suit to practice. Keep this suit in excellent condition for meets.  We make every attempt to have the team suit remain the same for at least two Fall/Winter seasons. The team suit will be worn at all YMCA Dual Meets, YMCA & USA Invitational Meets, and at all Yankee Cluster Championship competitions. You must wear a team cap at all meets.

AQUA BLADE
Swimmers of any age may purchase this suit to wear at any championship meet (excluding Yankee Cluster Championships) or with a written request at least 24 hours before the start of the meet to the Head Coach. You must wear a team cap at all meets.

FAST SKIN
Swimmers ages 11 & over may purchase this suit to wear at any championship meet (excluding Yankee Cluster Championships) or with a written request at least 24 hours before the start of the meet to the Head Coach. You must wear a team cap at all meets.

LZRS/POWERSKINS/TECH SUITS
Swimmers ages 12 & over may purchase this suit to wear at any championship meet (excluding Yankee Cluster Championships) or with a written request at least 24 hours before the start of the meet to the Head Coach. You must wear a team cap at all meets.

EXCEPTIONS
There are two exceptions to the WFYD Suit Protocol and they are as follows;  1. The Head Coach may deem a meet a “tech suit meet” at any point during the course of the season. In a typical winter season, there are at least three “tech suit meets,” and in a typical summer season there are usually at least two.  2. A written request with at least 24 hours’ notice (via email) to the Head Coach is another potential exception. The head coach will either grant or deny the request- if the request is denied a full explanation will be given.

VIOLATIONS
If the above WFYD Suit Protocol is violated, the following actions will be taken;

  1. First Violation: The swimmer will be scratched from the meet (if there are multiple sessions in the meet, the swimmer will only be scratched from that session). The swimmer and Parent/Guardian will receive a verbal warning.

  2. Second Violation: The swimmer will be scratched from the meet (in its entirety if there are multiple sessions) and a written warning will be sent to the swimmer & Parent/Guardian. A meeting will be held with the swimmer, the Head Coach, Aquatics Director, and the Parent/Guardian of that swimmer.

  3. Third Violation: If a third violation occurs, the Head Coach, Aquatics Director, and Parent/Guardian will meet to discuss the issue. At this time, the swimmer will be suspended from meets indefinitely and other such actions may be taken.
