Matt Adams began his swimming career at age 7 with the Fayetteville Youth Center Flipturns. He finished his high school years as a Fayetteville High School team captain and swimming with the Razorback Aquatic Club swimming for Coach Carl Auel. Matt went on to swim at the University Missouri Rolla for Doug Grooms where he became a 2 year team captain, multiple school record holder and a multi-time All American. In his collegiate summers Matt trained with coach Paul Blair and the Arkansas Dolphins. Not long after graduation Matt was a part of launching the Aquahawgs swim team in Northwest Arkansas and then returned to Little Rock in 2008 to become the Head Senior Coach for the Dolphins. As the senior coach for the Dolphins the team achieved successes from state titles to top 4 finishes at Sectionals and even a top 10 finish at Junior Nationals. Athletes had individual successes including: state records, state and sectional champions, Junior and Senior National Qualifiers, and a 2012 Olympic Trials Qualifier. Matt was also named the Region VII Sectional Coach of the Year and State Coach of the Year during his time with the Dolphins. He also served as the ASI technical planning chair during his time with the Dolphins until 2013. After a step back from coaching, Matt, became the Director of Operations for the Aquahawgs from 2015-2019 where he worked to help the club build upon their success as a swim school and a nationally competitive club team.
