Head Coach (Level 3 & Seniors) - Sarah Peper
Coach Sarah is our head coach for Level 3 and Seniors and is starting her fifth season with the WSL. She decided to make the move out to Williston to pursue her teaching career. Originally from Alexandria, MN, she competitively swam, starting her season as a Cardinal in USA swimming, since she was five years old. Sarah preciously remembers each year of swimming being the best, especially those seasons in USA swimming. She even remembers begging her parents to attend both practices during the summer seasons. Although Sarah teaches kindergartners during the day, she can quickly change her role to "Coach". She is very passionate at teaching and coaching, as she is very proud of her "kids" and athletes. Sarah is always excited to facilitate the growth of young people, not only athletically, but also through the opportunity of the many valuable life lessons learned through competitive swimming. A little reminder to her swimmers: "I am proud of you, and I believe in you. Now, give it your all, every day, and continue to believe in yourself. Create goals and strive towards those goals. Strive to be the best athlete you can be, each day, in and out of the water!"
Head Coach - Karen Guglich
Karen Guglich (otherwise known as Coach Goog) is in her sixth season with WSL. She serves as our head coach for Levels 1 and 2. Karen started swimming when she was barely five years old and continued all the way through college. She is most successful at breaststroke. Karen says, “I will never forget the support and encouragement of my coaches. I hope to offer the same to each of the Sea Lion swimmers. “
Assistant Coach - Joanna Baltes
Joanna is in her second season of coaching for the Sea Lions. She is an ASCA Level 2 certified coach. She grew up swimming competitively during the summer and in high school. After grad school, Joanna transitioned to open water swimming and competed in Sprint, Olympic, and Half-Ironman distance events. She loves the water, especially swimming in the ocean and is a certified Scuba Diver. Prior to coaching with the Sea Lions, Joanna coached soccer, tennis, and skiing. Joanna enjoys learning more about the art and science of being a swim coach and derives great joy in seeing the swimmers learn self-discipline, become more efficient in the water, and gain confidence.
