POSITION:                    Director of Competitive Aquatics

POSITION SUMMARY: 

Under the supervision of the Senior Aquatic Director, the Head Swim Team Coach will be responsible for the overall organization, management and daily operations of the swim team.  He/she will work in tandem with the Senior Aquatic Director to establish policies in keeping with the YMCA mission and goals and will incorporate the character developments values of honesty, caring, respect and responsibility into the team. 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of age 21
  • 5 years of coaching experience
  • Current CPR, First-Aid, Lifesaving, Oxygen certifications
  • Completion of coach’s safety training and YMCA Competitive Swim training
  • ASCA, level 3 certification or higher
  • Excellent communication skills


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Give leadership to the YMCA of MEWSA Swim Team, including developing and promoting the team across the association.
  • Ensure all team members are coached using positive coaching and mentoring skills.
  • Actively recruits participants and development meaningful, productive relationships with swimmers and families.
  • Develops, manages, and supervises summer swim team at the Oakcrest summer facility.
  • Ensure all all Senior and Assistant Coaches are utilizing the workouts as designed.
  • Ensure all practices, meets and meetings are scheduled and articulated to swimmers, parents, staff and those with a need to know.
  • Instill a culture of safety, insuring all child abuse prevention policies as well as the Safe Sport Act requirements are strictly adhered to.
  • In conjunction with the Senior Aquatic Director, recruit, train, manage and, evaluate staff and volunteers.
  • Manage stroke development summer camp across the association
  • Develops and delivers off season swim clinics to foster continued relationships with swimmers and families.
  • Implement and continuously grow the Master Swim program.
  • Create and implement specialized programs such as triathlon club, synchronized swimming, water polo, Special Olympics.
  • Recruits dry-land coaches and insures they are working in tandem with the Swim Team coaches and program.
  • Onboarding and payroll for the competitive staff.
  • Work in tandem with aquatic directors and the branch leadership.
  • Design workouts for each level of swimmer using the YMCA of MEWSA Swim Team Software.
  • Maintains a current team roster, insuring all information is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Maintain individual meet results on a timely basis.
  • Attend all swim team functions and represent the team in a professional, positive manner.
  • Ensure assistant coaches, team mangers, team members, and parents are acting in a professional, positive manner and quickly redirecting behavior that does not align with the mission and values of the MEWSA Swim Team.
  • Clearly and accurately communicate any concerns with the Senior Aquatic Director or Branch Director of Operations.
  • Prepare, promote and manage swim meets and volunteer leadership for all levels of swimmers during the indoor and outdoor seasons.
  • Enhance the overall program with a combination of written and verbal communications that will keep swimmers and parents apprised of team activities and policies.
  • Ensure the four core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility are delivered at all times.
  • Maintain the upkeep, cleanliness and proper pool usage during the swim team program time.
  • Work closely with the Swim Team Parents Association President and Swim Team Coordinator.
  • Ensure there is a culture of a member and family friendly environment at all times.

JERSEY STORM SWIMMING, HEAD COACH Joint Base MDI, NJ 08640
JERSEY STORM SWIMMING is seeking a motivated, innovative, and inspirational head coach to continue to grow our team and inspire and improve the performance of our swimmers.
 
Jersey Storm is a non-profit, year-round, USA Swimming competitive swim team of 80+ swimmers that is managed by a Parent Board of Directors. Our competitive program consists of three levels: Senior, Junior, and Developmental. We also run a year-round pre-team (swim lesson) program. We are located in northern Burlington County, NJ (Middle Atlantic LSC) and our practice facility is on Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. The team is currently growing and is located in an area with an increasing population.
 
The Head Coach position is a 6 day/wk position (~3-4hrs/day coaching) plus weekend meets approximately once or twice per month. Additional off-deck time required to fulfill other head coaching duties and responsibilities. The position offers a competitive salary, sick pay, paid time off, and reimbursement for board approved travel and certification/educational fees required for the position.

Primary Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement year-round and seasonal training plans for all training groups that:
    • Inspires, encourages, and motivates each of our swimmers to realize their full potential in the sport of swimming
    • Teaches life skills such as self-discipline, self-confidence, good sportsmanship, goal setting, and working to achieve goals
  • Manage and monitor assistant coaches and each of the training groups to ensure the teaching of proper stroke technique and implementation of the training plans
  • Establish the annual meet schedule, assign coaches to adequately cover the meets, ensure all meet entries are submitted on time
  • Oversee the pre-team (swim lesson) program
  • Provide opportunities to grow emotionally, socially, and educationally through team building events, consistent training, competition, and travel
Additional Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Align with Jersey Storm Swimming goals to continue to grow and improve the team while maintaining our great, family friendly atmosphere (the closeness of our swimmers and the solid friendships and camaraderie is something we truly feel sets us apart!)
  • Create an educational, safe, & inviting experience for all swimmers
  • Initiate, develop & maintain positive relationships with ALL swimmers on the team
  • Respond to member questions regarding the team’s programs, policies & procedures
  • Assist in enforcing USA Swimming, team & pool policies at all times
  • Maintain all swimmer information in Team Unify (e.g., times, attendance, meet entries/results, etc.)
  • Attend all Storm hosted meets and team events
  • Develop and distribute a monthly team newsletter
  • Represent Jersey Storm Swimming positively
  • Perform all duties as indicated in the Head Coach Employment Contract
Education/Experience:
  • High School graduate with Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Prior swim coaching experience and a competitive swimming background
  • Knowledge of proper swimming technique, training science, and stroke/distance specific racing background. ASCA Level 1/2 or higher (preferred)
  • Experience planning workouts, season plan, meet plan, and meet entries for individual swimmers.
  • Detail oriented with extraordinary leadership, communication, and organization skills
  • Positive, patient, with an outgoing personality
  • Experience using Team Unify (preferred)
  • Proficiency with MS Office software applications (preferred)

JCC Bridgewater Tide – Looking for Part-Time Coaches

Immediate Part-Time Openings: The JCC Bridgewater Tide Swim team is seeking qualified USA Swim Coaches to assist with our Tidal Waves group, Bronze group, and Pre-Competitive group, as well as other groups should the need arise. The Bridgewater Tide Swim Team is located at the Shimon and Sara Birnbaum Jewish Community Center in Bridgewater, NJ. We have a young, ambitious staff, and we are looking to hire coaches with the same commitment to excellence and desire to inspire our swimmers to succeed. We offer a competitive program that allows swimmers to achieve high levels of athletic success on a State and National level. We also enjoy a “family” culture that includes committed coaches and a supportive volunteer parent committee with a diverse and dedicated group of swimmers and families.

The Assistant Coaches will be responsible for all aspects of coaching a designated practice group and will attend all meets in which they are assigned. Practices are Monday-Friday and Sundays. Meets are generally 1-2 weekends a month, with more during Championship seasons.

The Tide has a year round enrollment of 130 swimmers that compete on both USA Swimming Short Course and Long Course teams, a Competitive Stroke Clinic in the spring, and a summer league team that competes in the NJ Swimming and Diving Conference. The JCC’s excellent facility includes both a 5 lane 25 yard indoor heated pool and a 5 lane 25 meter outdoor heated pool that has a dome enclosure during the colder months so it is utilized all year round.

Minimum requirements include:

  • Coaching experience.
  • Effective Communication Skills to both communicate with swimmers and their parents.
  • Ability to develop and manage Age Group swimmers.
  • A willingness to maintain working knowledge of current swimming techniques and training methods.
  • Professional and upstanding behaviors consistent with USA Swimming and ASCA Code of Ethics.
  • Competitive Swim Experience Preferred

MEWSA Assistant Swim Team Coach

Join a dynamic, enthusiastic team of Swim Team Coaches. If you are an experienced and knowledgeable swim coach with some previous swim instruction experience, a positive and encouraging personality, and a strong ability to work with a variety of swim levels you'll find this to be the perfect career choice for you! There are opportunities to work with both an age group and senior groups, based on your prior experience. As a member of our coaching staff you will be expected to attend all practice assigned as well as meets that often take place on weekends.

Candidates must be a minimum of 18 years of age, current Red Cross Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR/ AED. We will provide Coach’s Safety Training and YMCA Competitive Swim Training, both required for this position.

Scarlet Aquatics-Elite Division
Part Time Deck Coaching Position, August 2019

Background:  Scarlet Aquatics is a New Jersey Swimming club with 4 divisions. Each division is a separate corporate entity and owned & operated by a separate owner. Each owner is a head divisional coach. Scarlet Aquatics-Elite Division (“Scarlet-Elite”) is owned and operated by Bill Deatly. This part time position pertains solely to Scarlet Aquatics-Elite Division.

Scarlet Aquatics-Elite Division is looking for a part time, entry level coach. This employee will deck coach with swimmers ages 6 thru 15.

Within Scarlet-Elite, there are seven distinct training groups. Each training group has a Head Training Group Coach and a Stroke Technician.

Job Description: The position will provide the employee with the opportunity to:

  1. become a Stroke Technician for 3 training groups. Stroke Technicians at Scarlet-Elite work with small groups of swimmers for a short period (up to 20 minutes at a time) tutoring the stroke mechanics of great swimming. The Stroke Technician rotates through the training group and through the stroke mechanics.
  2. act as a substitute Head Training Group coach as needed for all the 3 training groups
  3. attend swim competitions to watch and review swimmers performances, giving positive feedback and constructive criticism to swimmers
  4. with successful development of the employee, become a Head Training Group Coach for 1 or more training groups in the future.

The Atlantic Club, Manasquan : Assistant Swim Coaches
Come join our enthusiastic staff of swim coaches at The Atlantic Club, situated on 44 acres in Manasquan NJ. We are looking for energetic, fun and passionate individuals for our 180 USA Member swim team. Candidates should have Competitive Swimming experience, and coaching experience is a plus but not necessary.
 
Summer Rec Team Coach: We are looking for individuals to help run the Summer Rec Team from June - August. Mon/Wed/ Fri practices with Tue/Thu dual meets.   Responsibility is to work with developing swimmers introduction to competitive swimming, stroke technique, diving as well as dual meet lineups. LGT/CPR,FA, AED certification preferred. 
 
Assistant Coaches: We are looking for individuals who can work 2, 3 or 4 nights a week (Saturdays), as well as, meets on weekends.  Responsibility will be to report to the Head Coach, yet work as an assistant to the Primary Coach of one of our groups.
 
Applicants should be current with all USA Swimming safety coaching requirements, or be willing to obtain them quickly. Requirements include: CPR certification, Lifeguard Training, Background Check through USA Swimming, Athlete Protection Training through USA Swimming, and appropriate USA Swimming Education tests.

METRO AREA LIFE TIME (LIFE) - Princeton: Head Coach
Life Time is seeking a passionate leader to grow within the Life Time organization. The Head Coach would be responsible for the development & growth of our swim team at our location, Life Time Princeton, which competes with our 3 other sites.
 
The Life Time Metro Swim Team is affiliated with NJ Swimming LSC of USA Swimming. LIFE is part of the Life Time Athletic Corporation, providing our members with a year round compeitive swim team. Our team consists of 600+ swimmers across our four locations: Berkeley Heights (NJ), Florham Park (NJ), Montvale (NJ) & Princeton (NJ).
Our Princeton site currently has over 100 members and is quickly growing. Every year our team sends many athletes to both Winter & Summer NJS Junior Olympics. Our team is also represented by multiple athletes at the Eastern Zone Meet.
 
The Life Swim team's main focus is stroke & technique development, utilizing drills with constant oversight & correction to ensure our swimmers have the proper skills for training & competition. Each location separates swimmers by ability level, allowing the coaches to focus on smaller training groups: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum & Senior, while providing direct oversight of the Jade & Sapphire development groups & coaches.
 
Daily Head Coach Tasks:
- Writing & leading swim team group workouts according to a seasonal plan
- Developing & growing swim team Coaches on your team
- Registering new participants for the team & administrative duties as needed
Duties & Responsibilities
- Align with LIFE swim team goals & mission

Education/Experience: Four year college degree, two years swim coaching experience, swim lesson instruction experience preferred & (1) one year customer service preferred.
Licenses/Certifications/Registrations: ASCA Level 2 certification or higher (preferred), member of ASCA & USA Swimming, Safety Training for Swim Coaches certification, American Red Cross Lifeguard & First Aid certifications preferred. Complete LTU Safety Training before first shift. Complete all LTU courses within the first 60 days of hire. CPR/AED required within the forst 3 months of hire. Successfully complete & pass Life Time Swim Instructor Certification.

Life Time is seeking an experienced & passionate assistant coach to help lead our Swim Team.  Our location has 4 practice group levels & over 100 athletes on our competitive team.
