Training Groups

Miami Shores Aquatics offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is the goal of MSA to offer age specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of THEIR abilities.

Eaglets (Age 5-8)
    Swimmers in this group will learn all four competitive strokes. The main focus is correct technique, kicking, body position and drills. Introducing racing starts and turns. Competition at swim meets is encouraged in this group.
Recommended 2-3 practices a week.

Eagles (Age 9-12)
    Swimmers in this group will learn all four competitive strokes. The main focus is kicking, body position and drills. Introducing racing starts and turns. Competition at swim meets is encouraged in this group. Recommended 3 practices a week.

Age Group Development (Age 9-13)
    Swimmers in this group will continue to improve their swimming technique, racing starts and turns while we introduce some endurance training. Competition at swim meets is recommended in this group. Recommended 3-4 practices a week.

Age Group Elite (Age 8-11)
    Swimmers in this group will focus more on endurance training and introducing racing speed while still working on technique refinement. Competition at swim meets is expected in this group. Recommended 5 practices a week.

Pre Senior (Age 12-14)
    Athletes entering this group must display a desire to begin training on a more committed basis. Competition at swim meets is expected in this group. Training takes precedence over technique work for the first time in the athlete’s development. Recommended 6 times a week.

Senior (Age 15-18)
    Athletes entering the Senior group must display a strong desire to perform at the highest level they are capable of. Training is geared towards individual talents, although a strong aerobic endurance factor is present. Recommended 6 times a week.
