Team Structure

The Kissimmee Swim Association offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is our goal to offer age specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of THEIR abilities.

Sharks Group

This is our entry level group. An athlete needs to be able to swim 25 yards of freestyle and 25 yards of backstroke to join.
Sharks Group Coach: Claire McBride
Workout Days/Times: Monday through Thursday 6:30-7:30PM

Fees: Year-Round: $60 per month**
          Summer League: $50 per month

Equipment: Swim Suit, Cap, Goggles, Kick Board, Pull Buoy
       Optional: Rubber Training Fins

 

Navy Group

From the Sharks group, athletes move into this group. Athletes in this group focus mainly on perfecting the four competitive strokes, starts and turns, and adding in endurance training.
Navy Group Coach:  Claire McBride
Workout Days/Times: Monday through Friday 5-6:30PM

Fees: $70 per month**

Equipment: Swim Suit, Cap, Goggles, Kick Board, Pull Buoy
       Optional: Rubber Training Fins

Minimum Requirements:*
       Age: 5 & Up
       2 x 50's Freestyle
       2 x 50's Backstroke
       2 x 50's Breaststroke
       2 x 50's Butterfly
       1 x 100 IM
       4 x 25's Kick 1:00
       10 Yards Underwater Butterfly Kick
       USS Racing Start Certified
       IMR Events for Age during each Short Course Season
       Attend practice at least 2 times per week

 

Gold Group

From the Navy group, athletes move into this group. Athletes in this group are usually at least 10 years old and have completed the Navy Group move-up skills list. This group is focused on developing aerobic endurance, refining stroke mechanics and achieving high levels of competitive swimming. Competing at swim meets is highly encouraged.

Workout Days/Times: Monday through Friday 5:00-7:00PM and Saturdays 7:30AM-9:30AM.

Fees: $75 per month**

Equipment: Swim Suit, Cap, Goggles, Kick Board, Pull Buoy, Fins
       Optional: Strokemaker Paddles, Finis Swimmer's Snorkel, Breaststroke Fins, Zoomers

Minimum Requirements:*
       Age: 9 & Up
       6 x 50's Freestyle on 1:00
       6 x 50's Backstroke on 1:15
       6 x  50's Breaststroke on 1:15
       6 x 50's Butterfly on 1:15
       5 x 100's  IM on 2:30
       10 x 50's Kick 1:30
       USS Racing Start Certified
       IMR Events for Age during each Short Course Season
       IMR Events for Age during each Long Course Season
       "B" time in at least 2 different strokes
       Attend practice at least 3 times per week

 

 Senior Prep Group

From the Gold Group, athletes move into this group. Athletes entering this group must display a strong work ethic, drive and focus. Training focuses on preparing age group swimmers for the senior group through developing a strong aerobic endurance, developing more advanced stroke mechanics and meet event processes. Athletes in this group are advanced age group swimmers working towards achieving their FLAGS cuts and above.

Senior Prep Group Coach: Lou Abbott & Randy Dunton

Workout Days/Times: Mon, Tue, Thur & Friday 5:30pm-7:30pm, Wed 5pm-7:30pm and Saturdays 7:00AM-9:30AM

 

Fees: Year Round: $80 per month**

 

Equipment: Equipment: Swim Suit, Cap, Goggles, Kick Board, Pull Buoy, Fins, Paddles
       Optional: Snorkel, Monofin, Breaststroke Fins, Zoomers

Minimum Requirements:*

            Age: 11&Up

            10x100 Freestyle on 1:40

            6x100 IM on 2:00

            6x100 Kick on 2:15

            1800 yards on 30:00 (T-30)

            IMX Events for Age during each Short Course Season
            IMR Events for Age during each Long Course Season
            "BB" time in at least 2 different strokes
            Attend practice at least 4 times per week

 

 Senior Group

Swimmers must be 13 or older, exceptions will be made for a highly advanced younger athlete.  Athletes entering the Senior group must display a strong desire to perform at the highest level they are capable of. Training is geared towards individual talents, although a strong aerobic endurance factor is present. Athletes in the Senior group are directed towards making time standards for Senior Champs level and above meets.

Workout Days/Times: Monday through Friday 5-7:30PM and Saturdays 7:00AM-9:30AM.

Fees: Year-Round: $90 per month**
          Summer League: $65 per month**

Equipment: Swim Suit, Cap, Goggles, Kick Board, Pull Buoy, Fins, Paddles
       Optional: Snorkel, Monofin, Breaststroke Fins, Zoomers

Minimum Requirements:*
       Age: 13 & Up
       10 x 100 Freestyle on 1:30
       5 x 200 IM on 3:15
       6 x 100 Kick on 2:00
       2000 yards on 30:00 (T-30)
       USS Racing Start Certified
       IMX Events for Age during each Short Course Season
       IMR Events for Age during each Long Course Season
       "BB" time in at least 2 different strokes

       "A" time in at least 1 stroke

       Attend practice at least 4 times per week

 

*Coaches discretion will be used in determining when an athlete is ready to move up a group
