Group Descriptions

North Florida Swimming offers age-appropriate, technique-based swim training for age-group swimmers of all ages and levels. NFS strives to provide a swim program that gives swimmers an opportunity to achieve successful and long-lasting swimming careers.

Equipment: Most groups require specific types. Please order during registration or check with Coach Erin at [email protected] before purchasing.

 

NFS PRACTICE GROUPS:

Senior I Group

Ages 14 & up by Coach invitation. Based on times, ability, work ethic, and knowledge of the sport. Designed to help put the athlete in a strong position to swim in college and beyond. Requires a commitment to training and athletic excellence. Swimmers in this group seek to consistently improve technique while attaining or working toward national, state, or regional championship time standards. Equipment needed: Long training fins, Zoomers, kickboard, equipment bag, water bottle, yoga mat or towel. Shoes/Clothes for Dry Lands

Senior II Group

Ages 14 and up. For high-school age and older swimmers with some competitive experience who are able to participate in interval training workouts and who have a desire to improve their swimming skills and strokes. Equipment needed: Long training fins, Zoomers, kickboard, equipment bag, water bottle, yoga mat or towel. Shoes/Clothes for Dry Lands

Silver Group

Ages 11 - 14 by Coach invitation. Swimmers train with Senior 1, 2 or the Green group based on Coach Recommendation. For swimmers who have the experience, knowledge, good technique and ability to step up to a higher level of training. Equipment needed: Long training fins, Zoomers, kickboard, equipment bag, water bottle, yoga mat or towel. Shoes/Clothes for Dry Lands

Green Group

Ages 10 – 15. For swimmers with good strokes who have moved up from our PreTeam, Yellow, or lesson groups. Stroke technique and age-appropriate training are emphasized. Equipment needed: Long training fins, Zoomers, kickboard, equipment bag, water bottle, yoga mat or towel. Shoes/Clothes for Dry Lands

Blue Group

Ages 8 - 14 who have moved up from PreTeam or advanced stroke lessons. Designed for swimmers with good stroke technique, knowledge of reading the clock and the ability to do age-appropriate interval training. Must have good side-breathing freestyle and must be able to swim backstroke and breaststroke. This group provides an opportunity for swimmers to improve stroke technique in all four competitive strokes. 

Equipment needed: Long training fins, kickboard, equipment bag, water bottle.  

PreTeam

Ages 5-14. PreTeam is our intro to swim team group. It is a swim team environment with elements of our advanced lesson group. Must have good basic swim skills in freestyle (including side breathing), backstroke and some breaststroke. Stroke technique is emphasized and swim team basics are taught such as reading the clock, interval training, turns, and dives. Equipment needed: Long training fins, kickboard, competitive-type swim suit.

PreTeam Hybrid (combination of PreTeam and Lesson)

Ages 5-14. Swimmers come twice a week - 1 PreTeam workout and 1 technique group lesson. Opportunities to compete in novice swim and intrasquad meets. Great for swimmers who can swim well enough to be part of a workout but who still need specialized instruction for some or all of the strokes. Equipment needed: long training fins, kickboard.

PreTeam + add a lesson

PreTeam members add a lesson. 2 days of PreTeam and 1 day of a lesson. 

 

Group Swim Lessons - Advanced, Technique and Learn-to-Swim

Ages 4 to 18. Small group swim classes for all levels from beginning to advanced. Register for 1, 2 or 3 days a week. Lessons are available year-round in our heated pool.

Private technique lessons

All Ages. For competitive swimmers. Work one-on-one with a SwimFASTER certified technique coach to improve your strokes. May set up a recurring lesson time each week or month or may book separate specific dates. 

Private Learn-to-swim and all level lessons.

All ages from 2 years through adult. 30 minute private lesson teaching beginning to advanced swim skills.
