YMCA Masters Nationals 2018
April 19-22, 2018 - Ft. Lauderdale, FL
Y-Nats is our biggest meet of the year, and we have earned our National Champion status by hard work in both our individual events and relays.
If you have not experienced this with our team, you are in for a treat. We swim fast and have fun. Check back in January each year for a link to our Y-Nats registration page. Registration is handled differently than all other meets and it requires a step-by-step process, which we publish in January.
READ THIS FIRST: You MUST read and follow all of the instructions below to enter this meet. Not doing so will cause the coach’s head to explode!
STEP 1 (Everyone)
ONLINE ENTRY: Deadline March 20, 2018
The YMCA has an online entry process for this event.
- When you get to the online form, start typing “Sarasota” into the search field under Club/Team. When the list populates, choose “Sarasota YMCA (1336) Sarasota FL.”
- Regardless of your membership status, click “I am a member of the YMCA.”
- If you are a local member of the Sarasota Y Sharks Masters program or a full-privilege Sarasota Y member, enter “C” for your type of Y membership.
- If you are NOT a full-privilege member of the Sarasota Y or NOT a local SYSM program member, enter “April 22, 2018” as the expiration date of your membership.
- Indicate that you are part of a team (selection 2).
- Insert Coach David’s name where it asks for your coach: David Miner
- When entering your events, DO NOT check relay availability boxes; we will handle that separately.
- Enter the social!
STEP 2 (MUST READ!)
Sarasota Y Member Application (Due March 20, 2018)
If you are already a full-privilege Sarasota Y member OR a local SYSM program member, you DO NOT need this form; SKIP TO STEP 3.
If you are NOT a full-privilege Sarasota Y member OR a local SYSM program member, you need to become a program member and pay a fee:
- Lakewood Ranch YMCA members: $6
- Venice YMCA members: $7
- All others: $67

STEP 3 (EVERYONE!)
Relay and T-Shirt Info (For EVERYONE, Due March 20)
We will need your times for all four strokes in the 50 and your 100 free time. Please submit flat start times, NOT relay splits. If you don’t have current times, do not guess—have your coach do a time trial in practice. Relays are the MOST FUN part of this meet and are worth DOUBLE points. Please consider making yourself available for ALL relays. FTT!
So that does it for now! We’ll release a separate page on this site with more information on psych sheets, relays, social events, and volunteering at the meet when that info is available.
We have three goals at this meet: have fun, swim fast, and win a championship. With that in mind, it’s not only important that everyone enter as many events as possible, but also to swim the events they are entered in.
Relay cards will be posted on a cork board in our tented area at the pool, these cards need to be taken to the blocks when it’s time to swim. The ANCHOR (that would be the fourth swimmer) for each relay will serve as the CAPTAIN of each relay and it is his/her responsibility to make sure all four swimmers are where they are supposed to be. Prior to relay swims, all swimmers should make themselves available near the team tent on the southwest corner of the competition pool. (Flagpole end, near ball field.)
It’s important for all swimmers to be accountable for the relays in which they are entered. Backing out of a relay causes a ripple effect for many swimmers, not just the other three on your relay. Bottom line: show up and swim fast, it’s great fun.
As always, it’s all about the socials. There is an official meet social on Saturday, which doesn’t require any other action on your part. For all events except the social, there is no advance payment—these events are held in local eateries and everyone takes care of their own checks. However, we need to give these establishments a heads-up on how many people to expect! Info, including addresses and directions, are below the RSVP form.
