TRSC Programs of Instruction

Three Rivers Swim Club (TRSC) in Rome, Georgia, offers short-term programs for novice swimmers and long-term programs for established swimmers.

The short-term programs for novices are called "the TRSC Mini-Sessions." They are designed for young people ages 7 to 17 who can already swim somewhat  but who have had little formal training in the sport. They are stand-alone programs that comprise nine hours of instruction spread out over several weeks, usually three, sometimes more. TRSC presents Mini-Sessions periodically throughout the year.  In them, participants learn the basics of good backstroke, freestyle, butterfly, breaststroke, dives, turns and underwater work. To enroll, applicants must be able to swim twenty-five yards in some fashion without assistance.TRSC Mini-Sessions are fun, productive, and absolutely non-competitive. Check the "Upcoming Events" section of this website's Home Page to see if there is a Mini-Session getting started soon.

The long-term programs for established swimmers together make up "the TRSC Regular Session."  TRSC's Regular Session serves swimmers ages 7 to 17 who have done one or two TRSC Mini-Sessions, who have thus gotten established in the sport by learning all the sport's key technical skills, and who want to now become, over a period of months and years, truly accomplished swimmers. Participants in the different groups of the Regular Session (Intermediates, Pre-Seniors and Seniors) improve their balance, endurance, power and speed in all the strokes.  Many of them train most months of the year in preparation for local, state, regional and national events.
