Practice Groups

Tech-Fit

A two-day per week program for swimmers who want to learn proper stroke technique, who want some physical conditioning but do not want to engage in competitions. This is also a "tryout" group for new swimmers who might want to eventually join the competitive team. There is no yearly commitment financially nor any fundraising or volunteer obligations. There are two practice times and swimmers are assigned a time according to ability. Techfit1 is for novice swimmers; Techfit2 is for advanced swimmers. 

Requirements to join the group:

  • Swimmers must be able to complete 25 yards Freestyle breathing to the sides unassisted.
  • Swimmers must be able to complete 25 yards Backstroke unassisted.
  • Must have a background of swim lessons or summer league prior to joining the group.

Green Group

A three to four-day per week program designed for swimmers at the novice level, ages 5-13. This group works mainly on technique but also is introduced to the pace clock and a small amount of dry-land and aerobic conditioning. Meet participation is required--2 meets for short course season (does not include Blue/Green intrsquad meet) and 1 meet for long course season. 

Requirements to be in the group:

  • Must be able to do 25 Freestyle and Backstroke with proper technique.
  • Must be legal in either Breaststroke and Butterfly. 
Blue Group

A four to five day per week program designed for older, novice swimmer, ages 9-14. Swimmers coming from Green Group must be recommended by the coach, based on stroke technique, start and turn technique, maturity, attitude, attendance, and aerobic conditioning. Swimmers in this group will continue to mainly work on technique but will add in more paceclock work as well as more aerobic conditioning and will begin to do test and challenge sets. Meet participation isrequired--3 meets for short course season (does not include Blue/Green intersquad meet) and 2 meets long course . 

Requirements to be in the group:

  • Must be able to demonstrate proper technique for all strokes and turns. 
  • Must be able to demonstrate proper head entry dive. 
  • Have a 75% attendance average from their previous group.
  • Swimmers who are 9-10 years old must have three B times in three strokes in addition to the above.
  • Swimmers who are 11 & older may just have 4 legal strokes and turns.
White Group 

A three-day per week program for those swimmers who are ready to move from Blue to Junior group but are not ready to commit to the requirements for Junior or Senior Group. The group is broken into two seasons: Season 1-- from September-February; Season 2-- from April-August. This group will reinforce good stroke technique, strength and conditioning, meet preparations and aerobic conditioning. 50% practice attendance is required to remain in the group. Meet participation is required--3 meets for short course season (does not include Blue/Green intersquad meet); 2 meets for long course. 

Requirements to be in the group:  

  • Must be 13 years or Older.
  • Must be able to use the pace clock. 
  • Have knowledge of proper technique for all strokes and turns. 
  • Be able to train at a 1:30 per 100 freestyle base interval. 
Junior Group

This group is our younger elite training group with swimmers being coach selected to join.   A five to nine day per week program, upper-level training program for middle school aged swimmers. These are swimmers who have committed to the sport and the team above all other  extracurricular activities. Swimmers develop into a more intense training regimen with high expectations towards work ethic, attendance and attitude. They swimmers in this group are expected to sign a contract, agreeing to these requirements, among several more. 

Requirements to be in the group:

  • Must have an 85% attendance average or higher to be considered and must maintain an 85% attendance to remain in the group.
  • 11-12-year-olds must have 3 BB times in 3 different Strokes.
  • 13-14-year-olds must have 3 B times in 3 different Strokes. 
  • Must be able to train at a 1:30 per 100 freestyle base interval or faster.
  • Required to attend  all suggested swim meets,  all days of the meet. 
  • Must have a good work ethic and attitude.  
Senior Group

This is our older elite group, with swimmers being selected by the coach to join. These are swimmers who have committed to the sport and the team above all other extracurricular activities. The group practices  7-9 times per week for 2 hours. The schedule also includes strength training 3 times per week. Mornings are scheduled at certain times of the year, 1-4 mornings per week.   The group is open to swimmers 14 and Up.

Requirements to be in the group:

  • Must be at least a sophomore in high school or comparable age. 
  • Must have knowledge of proper technique on all strokes. 
  • Must strive for a 90% attendance average or higher. 
  • Must be able to train at a 1:25 per 100 freestyle base interval.
  • Required to attend all suggested swim meets,  all days of the meet.
  • Must have good work ethic and attitude.
