SERVICE HOURS and FUNDRAISING REQUIREMENTS--2019-2020
Service Hours (year-round competitive team)
There is a minimum 15 hour* service hour requirement for the families of swimmers in year-round competitive team programs. The primary way that families earn service hours is by signing up to help with hosted meets. Swim teams cannot successfully run hosted meets that provide opportunities for swimmers to compete without the help of team parents. At each meet, the Meet Director, officials, people running the computers, timers, clerk of course, safety monitors, meet runners, etc. are ALL volunteers. When PEAK hosts a meet, parents are needed to help even if their swimmers are not swimming at the PEAK hosted meet. YOU ARE AND WANTED AND NEEDED!
Families may also earn service hours by volunteering as timers at away meets or by chairing a committee, becoming an official, or serving as a board member, or helping with other PEAK sponsored events.
Failure to sign up for and work the required service hours by July 31, 2020 will result in a $75/hour not worked fine which will be billed to your card on file on August 1, 2020.
If you choose to withdraw your swimmer from the team before this deadline payment for any unworked hours will be due before departure from the team**. You must have an active swimmer on the team to earn service hours.
Signing up for volunteer hours but not showing up or failing to perform the task assigned is the equivalent of failing to sign up and the $75 per hour fine applies. Neither volunteer coordinator, meet directors have the discretion to waive any “no-show” fine. Reasonable excuses for failing to show for volunteer hours may be presented to the board of directors for resolution.
*Swimmers that join the year-round team after September will have the family service hours prorated.
**For withdrawal before the end of the swim year, hours assessed will be prorated based on how many months of the swim year the swimmer swam with the year-round competitive team.
Fundraising Requirement $200.00 per swim year/per family (year-round competitive team)
For the 2019-2020 year, PEAK will sponsor a spring Swim-A-Thon which will give families the opportunity to fundraise through pledges and donations. Families that do not wish to participate in fundraising are welcome to set up a payment plan with the PEAK treasurer to pay the requirement in automated monthly payments. Any remaining fundraising balance due after June 30, 2020 will be charged to the card on file on August 1, 2020. If you choose to withdraw your swimmer from the team, payment for your fundraising balance due will be charged to you.
