Seasonal is a great option for those who want to continue the fun of summer league swimming during the school year, or build on skills learned in other swimming programs. Swimmers may use the Seasonal program as a stepping stone to Year Round SCAT. We accept swimmers ages 6 to 16.  A Seasonal swimmer can swim 25 yards freestyle and backstroke.  Strokes don't need to be perfected, that is what we work on!  But this is a lap swimming format, so they must be comfortable swimming the length of the pool. If your swimmer has never tried competitive swimming (like a summer league recreation team) we recommend an equivalent swim level as Level 5 at the Dive Center or Level 4 at Kedron Aquatic Center.  This is not a swim lesson, but rather a coached workout.

What goes on during the session and classes?
During the session, classes are 30 or 45 minutes long, and include a few minutes of stretching and warming up before strokes and drills are taught. SCAT strives to provide a low coach-to-swimmer ratio for Seasonal! This ensures your swimmer will receive the attention he/she needs in order to be successful.

Seasonal is a technique-based program. We will work with your swimmer on all four competitive strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly). Your swimmer will also be introduced to racing skills such as dives, turns, and streamlines. Swimmers will leave each class feeling like they got a good workout

 Goals of the Pre-Competitive Team:

o   Improve the basics of the four competitive strokes

o   Develop the beginning skills for proper turns

o   Push off and streamline to flags with a dolphin kick

o   Have Fun Swimming

Workouts are offered four evenings per week Monday thru Thursday.  You may register for as many nights a week as you prefer.

Practices are 45 or 30 minutes in duration

SEASONAL Required Equipment:

Suit – We recommend one piece for girls and board shorts or jammers for boys.  This is not required but if boys trunks have large pockets they can be heavy to swim with.  Please make sure the trunks have tie strings or a snug waist.  This helps keep the suit in place when they push off a wall or dive in.

Fins – long flexible fin (not a scuba fin)  These can be ordered at   We recommend the Sporti brand – approx. $20

Cap – if your swimmers hair will be in their eyes when it is wet.  It is difficult to teach proper head position and breathing when hair is in swimmers eyes or mouth.
