Practices will be held Mon - Thur from 7:00 - 8:00pm. You can register for 1, 2, 3 or 4 nights per week - YOU CHOOSE!
High School Prep swimmers will receive coaching and instruction from the SCAT coaching staff.
High School Prep is a great option for those who want to get in shape prior to their High School swimming season, but are not involved in the SCAT Year Round team. Athletes are able to select the exact nights they choose to attend and can register for 1 – 4 nights per week.
The session will run from Aug 12, 2019 – Sep 26, 2019.
Cost depends on the number on nights you plan to train – $145 covers 1x week for 7 weeks. (2 nights per week = $290; 3 nights per week = $435, etc. This is for the entire 7 week session)
We recommend signing up for more than one night per week to prepare yourself, but we have created a pricing system like this to allow you to select the exact nights you can attend.
Our coaches will train all four competitive strokes as well as work on proper starts and turns. This is an excellent way to prepare for tryouts for your high school team.
What goes on during the session and classes?
Workouts are 60 minutes long, and include a few minutes of stretching and warming up before strokes and drills are taught. SCAT strives to provide a low coach-to-swimmer ratio for High School Prep! This ensures your swimmer will receive the attention he/she needs in order to be successful.
High School Prep is a technique-based program in addition to providing a cardiovascular workout that will get you ready for high school swimming. We will work with your swimmer on all four competitive strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly). Your swimmer will also be introduced to racing skills such as dives, turns, and streamlines. Swimmers will leave each class feeling like they got a good workout.
Goals of the High School Prep program:
o Improve the basics of the four competitive strokes
o Improve the basics of proper flip turns for Freestyle and Backstroke as well as legal, efficient pullouts for Breaststroke.
Workouts are offered four evenings per week Monday thru Thursday. You may register for as many nights a week as you prefer.
Practices are 60 minutes in duration.
Suit – We recommend one piece for girls and board shorts or jammers for boys. This is not required but if boys trunks have large pockets they can be heavy to swim with. Please make sure the trunks have tie strings or a snug waist. This helps keep the suit in place when they push off a wall or dive in.
Cap – if your swimmers hair will be in their eyes when it is wet. It is difficult to teach proper head position and breathing when hair is in swimmers eyes or mouth.
