Swim Groups

The Lone Star Swim Team offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is the goal of the Lone Star Swim Team to offer age and skill specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of THEIR abilities.

**All athletes require an evaluation in order to be placed in the correct program group.

SWIM LESSON PROGRAM

The Lone Star Swim Team Swim Lesson Program combines the expertise of the Lone Star coaching staff with the innovative concept of a swimming school, where students attend a bi-weekly swimming class designed to teach them the fundamentals of both water safety and swimming. These programs are available only by evaluation and by class availability; therefore all persons seeking to register for swim lessons must first schedule an evaluation with the Lessons Coordinator then work with the coordinator to find an available opening in the lessons program before commencing lessons.  The Lessons Coordinator can be contacted at Evaluations@lonestarswimteam.org.

      SEMI-PRIVATE AND PRIVATE LESSONS

It is Lone Star’s passion to teach safety in and around water to as many children as possible.  It is through our lessons program that Lone Star is able to successfully take children that have very little to no experience with swimming or have fear of water and give them the best opportunity in feeling comfortable with the water while learning how to swim.  Our instructors work individually in private lessons or are paired with two to three children in our semi-private lessons teaching them the basics for survival coupled with the fundamentals of swimming including but not limited to putting their face in the water, floating, pushing off walls, using kick boards, and rudimentary freestyle and backstroke.  The primary goal is self-competency in reaching safety or being able to await assistance.

GROUP LESSONS (RANGERS)

Lone Star’s Rangers group represents the stepping stone from swim lessons to our youngest pre-competitive group, the Stripes Group. Continuing with teaching safety and basic stroke technique for freestyle and backstroke, coaches working with the Rangers instruct the swimmers from the pool deck rather than from the water.  Rangers work towards being able to legally complete a 25-yard lap of both freestyle and backstroke.

  • No Prerequisites
  • Focus:  Water awareness, safety and self-competency with instruction on fundamentals for freestyle and backstroke

COMPETITIVE PROGRAMS

Lone Star strives to ensure that there is a place for all athletes who have a desire to swim competitively, whether the swimmer is new to year-round swimming or is preparing to compete at the national level. The coaching staff is also careful to maintain a swimmer-to-coach ratio that allows for an optimal teaching environment. Swimmers are typically placed into a group based upon age and ability level.  In keeping with our philosophy of providing a well-rounded, quality, competitive swimming program for athletes of all ages and abilities, the Lone Star Swim Team offers progressive levels of professional technique, training and instruction through our competitive group program.
