Joining the HEAT
The HEAT offers 7 training groups that are broken up by age and/or ability. In order to place a swimmer in an appropriate group, all new swimmers to the HEAT Swim Team must participate in an evaluation prior to registering. If you are interested in having an evaluation done, you can come on deck during any of our open evaluation times.
Evaluations for the Fall / Winter 2022-2023 season will be Aug 269 or 30 anytime between 4:00 and 6:00pm. After that appointment only.
Please email Head Coach, Will Barker.
Each evaluation typically involves the athlete swimming a lap of two or more of the four competitive strokes. For advanced swimmers, the evaluating coach may ask the athlete to swim a little more. The minimum requirement for the first group, Group 1, is the ability to swim a 25 free and a 25 back without an instructors help. They do not need to be proficient.
Our coaching staff will evaluate to determine which training group is best for your athlete. To learn more about our specific group requirements, goals, and expectations, please follow the HEAT swim team group link below. Group placement is a combination of multiple factors that are all evaluated for the best placement of your particular athlete and is up to the coaches discretion.
After your evaluation, you can join us for up to 3 practices without any obligation. Once you have completed an evaluation, go to the home page and click on the link below. Our main source of communication is through our team website. We will also email all notices, changes, meet sign-up reminders and other information to all registered team members on our email list. After you have turned in your swim team registration paperwork, you will receive an email to become a registered team member on our website.
Practice Schedule will be posted by Aug 15
