EST Programs

The Elmhurst Swim Team also known as “EST”, is a year round swim team.  One important aspect of EST is that it has always devoted itself to making swimming available to kids. EST understands that kids have lives and our coaches encourage attendance at practices and meets. We are driven to provide the opportunities for swimmers and their families, but we also understand that swimmers and their families have a diverse range of other interests, obligations and personal circumstances that arise in life and may prevent them from taking opportunities to practice or compete.

We have a fall/winter swim season (referred to as the "short course" season where swimmers swim 25 yard lengths) and a summer swim season (referred to as the "long course" season where swimmers swim 25 yard lengths at home, but travel to meets where they swim 50 meter lengths). Approximately four weeks prior to the start of a season we will post an open registration on our website.  If it is any other time during the season please contact our registrar Kelly Campione for further information.

The fall/winter season is one season that begins in October and ends in March. The fall/winter season includes a collection of home dual meets or time trials and a number of away meets--some of which offer out of state travel to great swim venues and others of which are more local but offering great competition. The season culminates with a conference meet that is open to all swimmers and with regional, state, and national meets for swimmers with qualifying times.  All registered swim families are required to work 1 dual meet (or replacement event) and 2 sessions of the December ISI meet we host or a $200 fee will be charged to the account.

The summer season is one session. It begins at the end of the school year, approximately first week of June, and runs through mid- to late-July. Swimmers generally practice Monday through Thursday at York High School. Summer includes all home meets. Swimmers participating in the York H.S. summer swim camp can also participate in EST during the summer. The season culminates with a conference meet that is open to all swimmers and with regional, state, zone and national meets for swimmers with qualifying times.  (No family deposit is required but volunteering to help is needed to run the dual and home conference meets)

Before each of our seasons, EST holds Stroke Clinic: Spring Stroke and Fall Stroke. A stroke clinic focuses on techniques involved in every stroke, as well as starts and turns. Our stroke clinics start three weeks prior to our seasons, with registration opening approximately three weeks prior to their start date. This is a great place to start with EST and figure out if it is a good fit for your swimmer since we do have a "No Refund Policy" unless there is a medical issue.

Eligibility requirements for EST are that a swimmer be able to swim the length of the pool unassisted which is 25 yards, and be between the ages of 5-18.  If you have any questions about eligibility, please contact our registrar for further information. During the first few weeks of the swim team season, our head coach Dave Davis and his team of coaches, will rank the swimmer's level and place them in the appropriate swim training group. These groups are flexible.  As a swimmer gains skill and endurance, he or she can be reassigned.  It is the decision of the coaching staff to determine when a swimmer is ready to switch groups.

Registration is open to all in the Elmhurst community and in the surrounding communities.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to any board member. Their contact information is located in the "The Who do I Contact" sub-tab under the Parents & Documents tab on the home page.
