MAAPP Information

USA Swimming has implemented an enhanced set of Safe Sport policies collectively known as the MAAPP (Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy) which must be adapted by all member clubs by June 23, 2019. This change was driven by the U.S. Center for Safe Sport which overseas all Olympic development sports. Below are links to the main policy and helpful FAQ's related to the main topics. Like the Maverick Code of Conduct, these policies must be reviewed and agreed to by each of the following: 

  • athletes
  • parents
  • coaches
  • applicable adults (see description below)

Tools you may use in order to follow the MAAPP:

Permission for unrelated applicable adult to provide local transportation for a minor athlete

Permission for unrelated adult athlete to share lodging with a minor athlete


Additional requirements for Adult Athletes (must be completed within 30 days of turning 18):

Athlete Protection Training - Must take all three APT courses below. APT certification will expire 12 months after taking the course and must be repeated at that time. Keep a copy of your completion certificate. You are required to show this to your lead coach.
