How do I know what level my child should be?

You can check the Station Definitions for a good estimate on which level your swimmer would be in.  On the first day of class, your child will be quickly evaluated and placed into the appropriate level within the first few minutes of class.

How many students are in each class?

Within the first few minutes of the first day of class, the students are divided into stations (levels). Typically, there are 6 or fewer students per station. This is a rule of thumb, however, and not a policy.  Most of the time, our lower stations are a lower ratio, and it is not unusual for the upper levels to have a higher ratio.  Due to the station approach with advancements done immediately, numbers from day to day can fluctuate.

How much do classes cost?

Because we are at several sites and our lesson and session lengths are different at each site, there is no one set cost.  When you click the "Current Schedule" link and select the location and session choice, you will be able to see the cost of that class when you click the Days/Times/Costs button next to the class you are interested in.

When are the classes?

Because we are at several sites and our lesson and session lengths vary, you should click the "Current Schedule" link and select the Location from the dropdown box.

Am I able to attend fewer classes in a session and would the cost be the same?

Each session is scheduled for a certain number of days. It is up to you whether you attend all the days in the session or not, but the class fee remains the same regardless. Makeup classes are offered for medical reasons only and must be scheduled with the site supervisor at the pool and are subject to pool/class space availability.

Can I switch to a different class or cancel a class once I am registered?

SwimAmerica — Refund Policy

  • Class change requests will be accepted at any time and are subject to availability. A change fee of $12.00 will apply after the time of registration.
  • Refunds minus the $12.00 fee or 10% of the total refund — whichever is greater — will be granted while there are still spots available for the class you are cancelling, and if it is requested one (1) week in advance of registration closing. Registration usually closes 4-5 days prior to class start date.
  • Refunds may be issued within one (1) week of registration closing based on medical or other emergency situations involving the swimmer.
  • No refunds will be issued within 48 hours of the session start date.
  • Parents assume full responsibility for child readiness for group swim lessons.

In order to change classes (different session / time, etc), you would first complete a new registration for the new class you want to enroll in.  Then, contact us with swimmer's name, your name, previous class that you would like to cancel - including location, session and time/level- and new class that you are now enrolled in.  The registration amount for the old class, less the change fee, will be refunded to your card.

To completely cancel out of a class, contact us prior to at least 10 days prior to the class start date (registration generally closes 3-4 days before start date) with swimmer's name, your name, and class - including location,  session, and time / level, and acknowledgement that you understand there is a $12 cancelation fee - and we will refund the class fee, less the cancelation fee, to your card.

All the slots are FULL is there a Waiting List?

For those classes where we do keep waiting lists, instead of FULL, the slot will show as Wait List. You will complete your registration information, including payment information and if an opening becomes available, you will be notified and asked whether you want to accept the registration, at which time your payment will be processed. This could be up to the day before the class begins. (If you do not hear from us, it means nothing opened up yet, and we have no idea as to the liklihood of something opening up for any given class, so you just have to watch your emails)

Will I be entering the water with my swimmer?

Only waterbabies classes have the parents in the water with the swimmers.  Parents do not enter the water during the SwimAmerica lessons.  Our instructors are accustomed to having had many young first-time swimmers and are familiar with many techniques to draw them into wanting to learn to swim.

Do you offer any discounts or coupons?

If a swimmer is registered in 2 classes during the same session, you will receive a 20% discount at checkout, and if the swimmer is registered in 3 classes during a session, you will receive a 30% discount. (WESTERVILLE LOCATIONS ONLY, SCHOOL YEAR SESSIONS ONLY, MUST COMPLETE BOTH REGISTRATIONS IN SAME TRANSACTION)
