Training Groups

HHSC TRAINING GROUP DESCRIPTIONS

The Highland Hurricanes Swim Club will place your swimmer in one of the Training Groups defined below and determination will be based on your swimmer's age, maturity, physical and emotional development, swimming skill level and ability. Our professional coaching staff will ensure that your swimmer is getting appropriate level of training based on the above factors and placement will ultimately be at the discretion of the coaching staff. Advancement from group to group will be based on a mutual agreement between the coaching staff and the parent. There are dues associated with each of these groups so you are paying for the amount of training your swimmer will receive.

A NOTE ON STROKE SPECIALIZATION: The philosophy of the HHSC coaching staff is that swimmers should focus on training and progression in all strokes and distances. Stroke specialization will come naturally as the swimmer progresses into high school and beyond but at the Age Group level, the goal is to have our swimmers be well rounded.

Senior 15 - 18 Swimmers are mainly placed in this group based on their age. Typically, swimmers of this age are more developed physically and emotionally than the Age Group (14 and Under) swimmers. The skill and training objectives for the Senior Training Group will vary depending on the swimmer's level of experience and will include any and all of the objectives listed above in the Age Group training groups. Because of the advanced development of the senior swimmers, the expectation is that they need the 120 minute practices in order to proceed through the developmental phases on an accelerated timeline. - 120 minute practices
- Participation at all practices
- Encourage commitment to swimming and year round participation
