Swim Groups

The Piranhas swim club is made up of several team groups.  Each group is designed to help swimmers become stronger and more proficient in the water.

Develomental 1

DescriptionEntry level group

Focus: Introduces swimmer to competitive swimming. This group will focus solely on Freestyle and Backstroke technique including streamlines, underwaters, turns, and starts.

Practice:  Two 45 minute practices a week. You can select the M/W or Tu/Th classes.

MeetsEncouraged to attend 1 meet per season. Introductory beginner level meets are offered to swimmers in this group.

​Eligible If:​ Can swim 25 yards freestyle.

 

Developmental 2

Description: Entry Level Group

Focus: In this group, swimmers will continue to work on Freestsyle and Backstroke technique and learn Breaststroke and Butterfly. Continued work on streamlines, underwaters, turns, and starts. 

Practice:  Two 45 minute practices a week. You can select the M/W or Tu/Th classes.

MeetsEncouraged to attend 2 meets per season. Introductory beginner level meets are offered to swimmers in this group.

E​ligible If: Can swim 25 yards of Freestyle and Backstroke.

 

Bronze

Description: Intermediate Training Group

Focus: The Bronze group will continue to refine all 4 strokes, flip turns, open turns, and underwaters while adding skills like pullouts, breakouts, and small training sets.

Practice:  Three one hour practices are offered per week.

MeetsEncouraged to attend a minimum of 2 meets per season. Introductory beginner level meets are offered to swimmers in this group

Eligible If:​ Swimmers can swim 3 of the 4 stroke legally and be able to do Flip Turns with ease.

​Equipment: ​Kick board, Fins, and Pull Buoy

 

 

Silver 1

Description: Intermediate Training Group

Focus: In Silver, Interval training is introduced to swimmers. Learning to use the clock is essential to continue to more advanced workouts. Practice is set-up to follow this structure: Warmup, Drill/Technique Work, Training Set, and Warm Down. 

Practice:  Is offered 4 days a week with an average workout being an hour and fifteen minutes.

Equipment: Kick Board, Fins, Pull Buoy, Snorkel.

Meets: Encouraged to attend 3 meets per season.

 

Gold

Description: Intermediate Training Group

Focus:  Gold swimmers learn about taking personal responsibility in their own training habits, more complex swimming terminology as it relates to their training and more advanced racing strategies during meets.

Practice:  Offered 5 workouts a week. 3- 1.5 hour in water sessions, and 2- 2 hour sessions with dryland.

Equipment: Kickboard, Pull Buoy, Fins, Paddles, and Snorkel

Meets: Encouraged to attend a minimum of 4 meets per season

 

Platinum

Description: Advanced Training Group

Focus: Jr. High focused group. Working on preparing swimmers for the high school level and competitions. 

Practice: Platinum is offered 5 practices a week. 

Equipment: Kick Board, Pull Buoy, Paddles, Fins, and Snorkel

Meets: Minimum of 2 meets per season 

 

Senior

Description: Advanced Level Training Group

Focus: High school aged group. This group is focused on keeping swimmers ready for HS season.

Practice: Offered 6 practices per week.

Equipment: Kick Board, Pull Buoy, Fins, Paddles, and Snorkel.

Meets: Minimum of 2 meets per season. 

 

Platinum Elite

Description: ​Contracted Training Group

​Focus:  Jr High advanced training group. Swimmers continually are competing for the club and training at a high level. These swimmers sign contracts requiring:

-60% Attendance Rate

​- 1 Travel and 1 Local Meet per season​

Practice: ​Offered 6 practices per week and 2 morning workouts a week.

Equipment: ​Kick Board, Pull Buoy, Paddles, Fins, and Snorkel

 

​Elite

​Description: Contracted Training Group

Focus: ​High level training for athletes who have committed to the sport of swimming. These athletes will sign a contract requiring:

-70% Attendance Rate

​- 1 Travel and 1 Local Meet per season

Practice: ​Offered 6 practices per week, along with 2 morning practices each week.

Equipment:​​ ​Kickboard, Pull Buoy, Paddles, Fins, and Snorkel
