Group Structure

The Greater Evansville Aquatic Team offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels.  The GREAT coaching staff will have the final decision on all group advancement.

Coaches will advise which group your swimmer will train with if necessary.

 

 

Developmental________________________________________________________________

Focus:   This group works on stroke development.

Requirement:   Must be able to swim 25 yards without stopping of any stroke.

Practices:  Offered 3 days a week for 45 minutes.

 

Intermediate I_____________________________________________________                

Focus:  This group begins learning the basics of interval swimming. Majority of practice time is dedicated towards stroke improvement.

Practices:  Offered 5 days a week for 1 hour.

 

Intermediate II_____________________________________________________                

Focus:  This group continues the focus on stroke improvement along with interval swimming and race preparation.

Practices:  Offered 6 days a week for 1 ½ hours.

 

Junior__________________________________________________________________

Focus:  This group continues work on skills to improve stroke mechanics, endurance training, racing starts, turns and finishes. Swimmers will begin learning race strategy for competing at various distances and strokes.

Practices:  Offered 6 days a week for 1 ½  hours (2 hours on dryland training days).

 

Senior______________________________________________________________

Focus:  This group continues work on skills to improve stroke mechanics, endurance training, racing starts, turns and finishes.  A greater amount of time is spent on developing the various energy systems utilized in training for competitive swimmers.

Practices:  Offered 6 days a week for 2 hours (2.5 hours on dryland training days).
