Park Paseo Northstars Meet Report #2 – IWN
The Park Paseo Northstars broke three team records in their meet against the Northpark Riptide on Saturday. The 15-18 year old mixed relay team of Jonathan Kuo, Jonathan Miller, Esteban Torres, and Kayla Constandse broke the record for the medley relay with a time of 1:58:38; the same swimmers shattered the freestyle relay record with a time of 1:43:48. Sydney Lin swam a 29:56 to set the team record in the 9-10 girls 50 yard freestyle race.
The 11-12 year old girls swept the top two spots in all five individual events and had four third place finishes. Hannah Palmer led the group with first place finishes in butterfly, backstroke, and the individual medley.
The Northstars recorded 44 ISL qualifying times, including times in new events from Maya Boiarsky, Paige Condy, Kayla Constandse, Sasha Constandse, Viraj Deshpande, Jalen Hsia, Lauren Kim, Jonathan Kuo, Sarah Kuo, Jonathan Miller, Delaney Palmer, and Esteban Torres. Six other swimmers qualified for ISL in at least one event and recorded three time improvements, including Ethan Chen, Brynna Hsia, Danny Kim, Erin Kim, Nyah Lin, and Tyler Lin.
The Northstars had a total of 132 time improvements. The four biggest improvements of the day all came in the 5-6 boys 25 yard butterfly event. Jack Brown dropped the most with a 52.77 second improvement, followed by Andre Gao (42.21 seconds), Parsa Tamadon (32.56 seconds) and Deron Hsia (32.44 seconds). Nathan Fish shaved off an impressive 22.02 seconds in the 5-6 boys breaststroke race to finish first.
Swimmers with time improvements in all three events include Nicole Andre, Samantha Andre, Ariana Chen, Benjamin Chen, Trevor Cheng, Cayla Cruse, Bhargavi Deshpande, Ethan Dru, Yejin Heo, Uma Joshi, Dean Knoell, Samantha Ly, Evan Strock, and Alexander Wilhelm.
