Meet Report #3 – IWN 2014-07-19

The Park Paseo Northstars had another record broken on Saturday against the Portola Springs Storm. Claire Fu swam a 15:10 in the girls 7-8 freestyle to break a 21 year old team record, en route to three first place finishes and one new ISL qualifying time (backstroke). The Northstars also took first place in seven relays: 7-8 freestyle, 9-10 medley and freestyle, 11-12 medley and freestyle, 13-14 medley, and 15-18 medley.

The 9-10 year olds swept the first place spots in all 10 individual events, highlighted by Sydney Lin with three wins for the girls and Leo Giessmann with three wins (including two new ISL times) for the boys. The 11-12 year old girls took first place in all five individual events, including three victories for Hannah Palmer. Spencer Sellwood had three victories for the 13-14 year old boys, including one new ISL qualifying time (butterfly).

There were 49 ISL qualifying times for the Northstars on Saturday, including times in new races from Samantha Andre, Maya Boiarsky, Ethan Chen, Paige Condy, Brian Fu, Uma Joshi, Jonathan Kuo, Kristie Lee, Simran Patel, and Joshua Sellwood.

The Northstars registered 91 time improvements. The biggest came from Daniel Constandse in the boys 5-6 butterfly, where he took off a whopping 53.17 seconds. Abigail Songer dropped 38.09 seconds in the girls 9-10 backstroke and Summer Wilson took off 36.45 seconds in the girls 5-6 backstroke.

Swimmers with time improvements in three events include Evan Bennett, Jack Brown, Ellen Cassity, Robert Chandler, Benjamin Chen, Chloe Dasilva, Lauren Giglia, Dylan Green, Nicole Jacoby, Ava Lefebvre, Adam Shin, Evan Strock, Michael Tsai, and Roy Tseng.

At Tuesday’s Pentathlon meet, Sydney Lin broke team records in the girls 9-10 butterfly (31:23) , backstroke (33:65), breaststroke (38:82), and individual medley (1:12:62).
