Initial Billing

For swimmers starting with LAMVAC for the first time, the club can offer a pro-rated fee of half the normal team level fee for the first month IF the swimmer registers after the 15th of the month. The registration system automatically bills for the full first month/quarter of registration; you must email treasurer@lamvac.org to receive a credit toward your next monthly or quarterly billing.

Fee and Service Details

Fees are due no later than the first of the month or 10th day of the quarter. The club automatically charges accounts for those who requested this during the online registration process, and the club sends out bills to those who did not.

Advancing to new team level

  • If your swimmer is promoted mid-month, LAMVAC will bill you the new amount at the beginning of the following month.
  • If your swimmer is promoted mid-quarter, LAMVAC will bill you for subsequent months in the quarter at the new quarterly rate.

Quarterly or Monthly billing option

The choice of quarterly or monthly billing is available to Piranha, Tiger Shark, Junior and Senior swimmers. The quarters for billing start Sept. 1, Dec. 1, March 1 and June 1. You can choose which billing schedule you prefer when you register online, or you can email LAMVAC at billing@lamvac.org to change your billing preference for the next billing cycle. You cannot change your billing mid-quarter or mid-month. Once you have made payments, they are nonrefundable and cannot be prorated. If you start mid-quarter, you will be billed at the monthly rates until the next quarter begins.

Annual family dues/membership fee

Regular dues do not cover all of the club’s expenses. The annual family fees help cover a LAMVAC team T-shirt and a swim cap, team registrations for meets, awards and other expenses. The annual family fee does not apply to Tadpoles, Masters or swimmers in the High School Training and Summer Programs. LAMVAC charges this fee at the beginning of the swim year (September/October) or when you first register. The club does prorate the fee for swimmers who begin after February, and the fee is not charged for swimmers beginning in the summer months, June through August.

USA Swimming/U.S. Masters registration

LAMVAC Masters swimmers should register themselves with U.S. Masters Swimming.

All other swimmers in LAMVAC must be registered with the USA Swimming Association annually. The LAMVAC treasurer will do this and bill the swimmers' accounts for the USA Swimming fee. USA Swimming registration covers the club’s liability insurance at swim meets and practices. Current members are charged for the USA Swimming fee in October; new members are charged during the LAMVAC online registration. These fees are nonrefundable and are not included in the monthly and quarterly fees. USA Swimming current fees can be found at the website for Pacific Swimming, LAMVAC's local USA swimming association.

A swimmer with current USA Swimming registration transfers from another USA Swimming team must submit a transfer form to the treasurer. Please note that USA Swimming rules state that a swimmer may not represent a USA Swimming club in a meet for a new team until 120 consecutive days pass without the swimmer having represented his or her prior club in competition. See the USA Swimming website for full details.

Late payments

Quarterly payments revert to monthly payments, if your payment is not received by the 10th day of the quarter. For payments not received by the 15th day of the month/quarter, the club adds a finance charge of $10 to your statement, which you will receive by email or regular mail. If you fall behind by more than 90 days, LAMVAC will send your account balance to a collection agency, which can affect your credit rating. Please pay promptly to avoid finance charges and collections.

Failure to pay monthly dues for more than two months will lead to a suspension of membership. If this happens, the swimmer(s) may not attend practice until payment is current.

Taking a break or leaving the team

If you know that your swimmer will take off a full month or more, please give LAMVAC written notice by emailing billing@lamvac.org at least 15 days before suspending or stopping membership. This will avoid the club charging you for the next billing period. LAMVAC does not generally refund or prorate fees already charged, but please contact your coach, if there is a medical emergency or unplanned move.

If you would like to put your membership on hold rather than canceling it, your account will be charged a $10/month suspension fee. To reactivate the membership and resume receiving team emails, please email LAMVAC at billing@lamvac.org.

If you are ending or suspending a membership, you are still responsible for family service hours for the time in which your child swam with the club. Here is how LAMVAC calculates those:

  • You are responsible for 10 service hours, if your child swam for fewer than six months of the swim year (between Sept. 1 and Aug. 31).
  • You are responsible for 20 service hours, if your child swam for more than six months in the current swim year.

You will be billed $25 for each service hour your family has not completed.

Returning to the team

It's always good to see familiar faces returning to LAMVAC. Please contact the team at billing@lamvac.org to reactivate your membership. This also ensures that you will start to receive team and coach emails again.

If you are not sure if your swimmer is at the same team level as before, please contact LAMVAC at MembershipEagle@lamvac.org or MembershipFoothill@lamvac.org to schedule a tryout.

Swim-A-Thon (Required)

Every spring LAMVAC hosts a Swim-A-Thon, with swimming taking place at both Eagle Park Pool and Foothill College Pool. The club expects each Piranha, Tiger Shark, Junior and Senior swimmer to get pledges and for each family to raise at least $150 each to help LAMVAC cover its operating expenses for the year.

Required family service hours

If your family has more than one LAMVAC swimmer, your service-hour requirement is based on the swimmer at the most advanced team level. For instance, if your oldest child is a Tiger Shark, you will be responsible for 20 service hours per season, no matter how many siblings are swimming at lower levels. You are not expected to perform 20 service hours for each swimmer.

Visit the Family Service section of the LAMVAC website for further Family Service information.

Financial assistance

LAMVAC does offer assistance for swimmers at Piranha, Tiger Shark, Junior and Senior team levels. Please submit a financial assistance application to the membership coordinators at MembershipFoothill@lamvac.org or MembershipEagle@lamvac.org.

Examples of fees/service requirements

To help you understand how the LAMVAC fee structure works, here are some examples of the fees and service requirements for a family over the course of one swim year (September through August):

  • No Swim-A-Thon pledges
  • Ten family service hours (or $25 for each hour of service you have not completed)
