GO Swim Team Parent Commitment Contract—Section A
A long standing tradition at Geauga YMCA has been to provide support to the swim team. Parents of the swimmers have always provided the necessary leadership to accomplish the goals and tasks at hand. Equally important to your child’s swimming is YOUR INVOLVEMENT in our organization. The swim team cannot run without a lot of parent participation. It is not fair when the same group of parents carries the burden for the whole team. Participation in swim team requires 2 volunteer components. There are several ways to volunteer this season:
Part 1: Dual Meets and Events
1. Become a certified YMCA swimming official. Please see Coach Matt if you are interested.
2. Work in several areas at each home meet: timer, runner, 50/50 raffle, event board & clean-up, etc. at our home meets.
3. Work as a volunteer at any team event: Christmas party, end of the year banquet, other social event, hold a position on the PIC, lead a committee, etc.
Each family is required to volunteer in some capacity for a total of 3 events/activities to fulfill your basic volunteer requirement. Each activity will count as 1 volunteer credit (1 credit = $25 towards the total fee of $75 per family).
Part 2: Invitational Meets and Fundraising Events
The Geauga Otters host Invitational style swim meet(s) during the season. There are a myriad of jobs available meeting everyone’s talents and capabilities. The money raised at these large meets can range from $3000-$10,000 depending on the size of the meet and helps to keep the cost of participating in the Otters Swim Team manageable. Each family is required to provide appropriate volunteers to fulfill 2 total roles in the planning, preparation, and operation of the each large meets we host. More information on this will be forthcoming. Each activity will count as 1 fundraising credit (1 credit = $50 towards the total fee of $100 per family).
If a family does not meet all of their Part 1 volunteer requirements by the end of the season there will be a maximum fee of $75 charged (prorated for volunteer credits earned). If a family does not meet all of their Part 2 volunteer requirements by the end of the season, there will be a maximum fee of $100 charged (prorated for fundraising credits earned). These fees will be deducted from your credit card on file at the end of the season. Volunteer credits will be tracked throughout the season. If you have volunteered you must make sure you signed your name on the volunteer sign-up sheet
Volunteer opportunities are posted on our website (www.goswimming.org) and are available on a first come, first signed up basis. If you have a particular fondness or aversion to some type of volunteer job—sign up early! Credits will be tracked throughout the season. A sign in sheet will be available for you to sign in and receive credit for your time. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have signed in to receive your credit. Please sign below to indicate your understanding of the Parent Commitment Contract and that you are aware there will be fines for not completing ALL of your volunteer requirements for the season.

Financial responsibility is paramount to the success of the Geauga Otters. The swimmers rely on you, as parents, to pay their bills and take care of necessary paperwork. The consequences of NON-PAYMENT of fees have an impact on the entire organization, including your child. NON-PAYMENT of any and all required fees results in your child not swimming.
Please turn in ALL paperwork prior to your child’s first swim team practice. Please be sure the swim team has your e-mail address for team communications (there is a space for your e-mail address on the registration form).
This agreement states that you agree to be prompt in payment of swimming fees, membership, and meet fees. Additionally, you agree to participate as a volunteer registration form and volunteer background check forms prior to your child’s first practice.
Past-due fees will result in your child being excluded from practice and meets
