Qualifying Standards

Qualifying Standards

LSSC attends several meets that require a swimmer to have a swum a certain time to participate, these range from local meets all the way to the national level. Below is a list of examples of some of these meets. Qualifying standards are a great resource to help set long term goals!

 

Age Group Time Standards – USA Swimming created National Age Group Time Standards (NAG). You will see on our meet schedule some meets are “Faster than A” or “Slower than B” this is referencing NAG standards.

  • LESI Short Course Championships require Single Age NAG “A” Times or Faster. You can view these HERE.
  • LESI Long Course Championships require swimmers to achieve NAG “B” Times or Faster. You can view these time standards HERE.
  • Central Zone Championships is a meet that takes place every August. Swimmers who achieve a NAG “AAA” Times or Faster qualify to travel with the Lake Erie Zone team and compete against other districts in our region. This meet is held at various locations across the region.
  • Mid States Championships is a meet that takes place every January. Swimmers who achieve a NAG “AA” are eligible to apply to join the Ohio Quads Team. The top swimmers in each event are selected to travel and compete for the Ohio Team against other state teams in our region. This meet takes place at various locations across our region.

 

Open and Senior Meet Time Standards – These are National level meets, it is a huge accomplishment to get to this level of swimming and provides LSSC swimmers a great experience to compete against other elite teams and athletes. Any swimmer with cuts is strongly encouraged to attend these meets with the team.

  • Speedo Sectionals – This meet takes place at various locations across our region every Spring and Summer. View qualifying standards HERE.
  • Futures Championships – This meet takes place at various locations across the country every August. View qualifying standards HERE.
  • Winter Junior National Championships – This meet takes place every December at various locations across the country for the top swimmers 18 and Under in the country. View qualifying standards HERE.
  • Summer Junior National Championships - This meet takes place every August at various locations across the country for the top swimmers 18 and Under in the country. View qualifying standards HERE.
  • Senior National Championships - This meet takes place every summer at various locations across the country for the top swimmers in the country. The top swimmers in each event are selected to represent the United States at World Championships. View qualifying standards HERE.
  • Olympic Trials – Set your goals high! This meet takes place every 4 years, the top 2 swimmers in each individual event are selected to represent the United States at the Olympics. The 2016 qualifying standards can be found HERE
