Training Groups

 

Central York Aquatics offers training groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels, to allow us to develop each swimmer to the best of their abilities.

 

Silver Group

This is our entry level group.  As a prerequisite, swimmers must be able to swim a 25-yard distance without stopping.  Swimmers are taught all four legal competitive strokes, streamlines and underwater kicks, racing starts, and turns.

 

Silver group coaches: Jenne Lloyd, Mike Zeigler, and Jill Bohannon

Workout days: Monday, Tuesday & Thursday, 7:00 - 8:00 PM; Friday 5:15 - 6:15 PM

Swimmers eight years of age and younger should attend approximately three practices per week. Swimmers nine years of age and older in this group should attend approximately four practices per week.

 

Black Group

The Black group builds on the foundations of stroke mechanics and fundamentals learned in the Silver group.  Technique and fundamentals continue to be perfected and swimmers begin to swim slightly longer distances.

 

Black group coach:  Amber Noll

Workout days: Monday, Tuesday & Thursday, 7:00 - 8:15 PM; Friday 5:15 - 6:30 PM

Swimmers eight years of age and younger should attend approximately three practices per week. Swimmers nine years of age and older in this group should attend approximately four practices per week.

 

Orange Group

The Orange group is the first level of our advanced training groups.  While there is still a heavy emphasis on stroke technique and fundamentals, swimmers in this group begin building a strong aerobic base by swimming longer distance repeats on intervals of shorter rest.

 

Orange group coach:  Trevor Endler

Workout Days:  Monday, Tuesday & Thursday: 6:45 - 8:15 PM; Friday 5:15 - 6:45 PM; Saturday, 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM

Swimmers eight years of age and younger should attend approximately three practices per week. Swimmers nine years of age and older in this group should attend approximately five practices per week.

 

Pre-Senior Group

The Pre-Senior group prepares swimmers for the Senior group.  Swimmers are introduced to more advanced training skills while continuing to perfect technique and fundamentals.

 

Pre-Senior group coach: Trevor Endler

Workout Days:  Monday, Tuesday & Thursday: 5:00 - 6:45 PM; Friday 5:00 - 6:45 PM, Saturday, 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM

Swimmers should attend at least five practices per week.

 

Senior 1 & Senior 2 Groups

Swimmers in the Senior group are expected to have a high level of commitment to swimming.  They are encouraged to set higher goals and are challenged to reach them.  Workouts are strenuous and swimmers are expected to be disciplined and to pay attention to details.

 

Senior 1 & Senior 2 group coach:  Jim Gingerich-Senior 2, Jenne Lloyd-Senior 1

Workout Days:  Monday, Tuesday & Thursday: 5:00 - 7:00 PM; Friday: 5:00 - 6:45 PM; Saturday, 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM

Swimmers should attend five practices per week.
