GREATER PHILADELPHIA AQUATIC CLUB
2018 SPRING WARM-UP INFORMATION
FOR SWIMMERS NOT CURRENTLY ON OUR SWIM TEAM (Also not for current Technique & Fitness or Intro to GPAC Swimmers)
We have two different groupings for Spring Warm-up, one for 13 & over swimmers and one for swimmers ages 12 & younger.
13 & OVERS: 7:00-8:00 PM ($115 PER MONTH)
MON–TUES–THURS in March, April, & May
Head Coach: Sean McCall
The purpose of the spring warm-up program is to prepare the swimmers for summer league season and/or continue with training from high school season. Practices will be geared toward improving technique and stamina. Space will be very limited in each group. Swimmers must have previous swim team experience.
Practices begin on Monday, March 5, 2018. The final practice will be on Thursday, May 24th.
There will be no practices the week of April 2nd for Spring Break.
Please note that practices may be canceled due to weather or other unforeseen events beyond our control.
Each swimmer will need to bring goggles, a swim cap (if their hair can cover their ears this is required, otherwise optional), and fins to each practice. We also recommend bringing a water bottle to each practice as well.
12 & Unders
The spring warm-up program for 12 & unders will begin on Monday, April 9th. Swimmers will be placed into one of our current practice groups for the remainder of the season (until May 25th). The cost will vary based on the group the swimmer is placed into.
EVALUATION: All 12 & under swimmers must be evaluated prior to registration. The evaluation date is Wednesday, March 21st at 5:00 pm at GCIT. No registration is required to attend. Swimmers will need their bathing suit, goggles, and a swim cap. The entire evaluation will take about 30 minutes, depending on how many are in attendance. Due to demand and available space, this will likely be the only evaluation opportunity offered in the spring.
MINIMUM SWIM TEAM REQUIREMENTS:
In order to be placed onto the swim team, swimmers must be able to meet these minimum requirements:
1) Swim 15 yards of freestyle with proper side breathing and without stopping
2) Swim 15 yards of backstroke without stopping
3) Swim 10 yards of proper butterfly with arms recovering out of the water, legal dolphin kick, and proper breathing
4) Demonstrate knowledge of proper breaststroke kick and full swim breaststroke
If a swimmer does not meet the above requirements they should be enrolled in our swim lesson program. Please go to www.gpacswimschool.com for more information on upcoming sessions.
