Head Coach Taylor Byers:

Taylor joined Tri-Hampton YMCA in May 2019. She is currently a YMCA and USA certified swim coach with an American Swim Coaches Association (ASCA) Level II certification.

Taylor is dedicated to not only improving an athlete's swimming abilities, but also to helping swimmers reach their full potential by developing character out of the water.

Growing up, Taylor swam with the YMCA and was a part of her high school swim team. During this time, she was a YMCA Nationals and PIAA High School State Championship qualifier. She is the current 100-yard breaststroke record holder at Derry Area High School.

Taylor was a four-year collegiate athlete at Arcadia University on the Women’s Swim Team competing primarily in the breaststroke and individual medley events, as well as a member of both the medley and freestyle relays. She is a current Arcadia pool record holder in the 400-freestyle relay, as well as a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) top 8 finalist all four years. Aside from her swimming accolades, Taylor received All-MAC Academic Honors as well as Arcadia Athletics Honors, including the 2018 Strength and Conditioning Award. She served as a member of the Leadership Committee her senior year, while also representing the Women’s Team on the Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) during both her junior and senior years.

6/2/68 - 7/17/15

Our beloved coach, Tracey Edwards passed into eternal life on Friday, July 17, 2015, due to complications from metastatic breast cancer. A fighter to the end, our "Sunshine" was a wife, mother, daughter, sister, and aunt with an acutely compassionate character. Having beaten cancer previously within the last three years, Tracey's legacy will be one of courage, determination and beauty - both inside and out. Tracey's passions were teaching, coaching, and sharing her love of life with Dominic, Meredith, her extended family, and her many treasured friends and colleagues. A reading specialist in the West Windsor-Plainsboro (NJ) school district, Tracey had taught since 1992 at Upper Elementary, Village and Millstone River schools. A 1986 graduate of Pennsbury High School, where she was a proud swim team captain, Tracey swam in NCAA Division 1 competitions while earning a degree in political science from Furman (SC) University in 1990. She subsequently acquired a master's in education from the University of Pennsylvania to complement her career goals as an inspiration to young learners. Tracey treasured her West Windsor-Plainsboro colleagues, drawing strength from her many impactful professional relationships in the district. Tracey's love of swimming will live on in her twins, Dominic and Meredith, whom she coached with enormous pride for the last eight years at the Spirit and Tri-Hampton YMCA teams.
