Indoor Short Course will go from

September 13, 2017 to March 17, 2018

Minis:  (Ages 6-8) This level is for swimmers who participate in the 8 & under age group in meets.  These swimmers can legally perform the four competitive strokes and who are ready to learn more advanced stroke skills and technique.  Stroke, turn and start instruction are emphasized.  Fun and participation while building a love for swimming are the focus. ($730.00 + $75.00 Parent Resource Fee)

  • Mini 1 for more advance/experienced swimmers
  • Mini 2 for beginner competitive swimmers
  • 3 workouts per week
  • 60 minutes in water per workout​

 

Academy:  (Ages 9-14) This program has the goal of preparing swimmers and their families to bridge them from non-competitive swimming into competitive swimming.  Participation in meets is not required, but competitive opportunities will be offered and encouraged.

Age Group 3:  At this level competitive training is introduced.  Emphasis is still on stroke technique and proper skills.  This is the group where participation in meets is mandatory. ($795.00 + $70.00 USA Swimming fee + $75.00 Parent Resource Fee)

  • Ages 9-12
  • 4 workouts per week (3 recommended)
  • 60 in water per workout

 

Age Group 2:  This group will have two levels Age group red and Blue.  The Age Group Blue will be for stronger and more experienced swimmers. This group is a transitional level in which swimmers move from primarily stroke instruction to actual competitive training.  Swimmers are motivated and committed to be their best.  Emphasis is on preparation for high levels of training and competition.  Good technique is of utmost importance. Participation in meets is mandatory.  Swimmers in Age Group 2 Blue must have 3 YMCA district Standards ($880.00 Short Course/$1185.00 Annual + $70.00 USA Swimming fee + $75.00 Parent Resource Fee)

  • Ages 10-12 (10 year olds at coaches discretion)
  • Offered four 90-120 minute practices a week, which include 30 minutes of dryland
  • Recommended 3 for red, 4 for blue practices per week

 

Age Group 1:  This group is for athletes with the necessary desire and ability to train and compete at the highest levels.  Swimmers in this group will train to compete at local level and regional level with goals of competing at the YMCA National Level.  Swimmers must have 3 YMCA district standards. ($1150.00 Short Course/$1545.00 Annual + $70.00 USA Swimming fee + $75.00 Parent Resource Fee)

  • Ages 13-14
  • Offered five 2-2.5 hour workouts per week including dryland
  • Recommended 5 workouts per week

 

Senior 1:  Ages 15/up.  The highest level training group in the program. Swimmers in the group are committed to the UMLY Program as their primary extracurricular activity.  Each swimmer is expected to start at the beginning of the season and finish with the last possible qualified meet.  Those interested in participating in a sport other than swimming should see the head coach prior to group selection.  All swimmers in the group must have routinely shown a commitment to attend a National level meet-YMCA Nationals/USA Jr Nationals/or USA Senior Nationals.  This group is reserved for those who have made a year-round commitment to swimming and training for the next level.  This includes long course training with UMLY and attending meets beyond the high school season.  A mandatory practice attendance of at least 83% is required to stay in the group.  There are also volunteer expectations for the swimmers. ($1980.00 Annual only + $70.00 USA Swimming fee + $75.00 Parent Resource Fee)

  • Offered six 2-3 hour practices per week plus double workouts on select weekend and school breaks during the holidays and summers.

 

Senior 2:  Ages 15/Up.  Swimmers in this group will have the desire and ability to train and compete at the highest level,  3 YMCA District times are a required minimum.  ($1485.00 Short Course/$1740.00 Annual + $70.00 USA Swimming Fee + $75.00 Parent Resource Fee)

  • Offered six 2-3 hour practices per week plus double workouts on select weekend and school breaks during the holidays and summers

 

Varsity/Age Group1/Senior:  This Group is a combination of Age group 1 and senior for 13/over swimmers.  The group will train for 1.5 hours four/five days per week plus dryland and will be run by the varsity coach. Practices will be challenging and will parallel the kind of training already being offered on the Age Group 1 and Senior groups. Swimmers in this group will have the opportunity to attend all meets they qualify for.  Varsity swimmers are expected to participate in dual meets and their Championship meet of the season.  Athletes may be able to move into other groups from this group. This could be ideal for high school swimmers who may play additional sports, or may have difficulty making a year round commitment due to extracurricular activities and academic pressures.  The varsity squad will hold up to 30 swimmers from ages 13-18.  ($980.00 Short Course/$1320.00 Annual + $70.00 USA Swimming fee + $75.00 Parent Resource Fee)
