Groups Description

CAC GROUPS

 

Novice D

This group is for swimmers ages 5-7 who have no competitive swimming experience. The focus of this practice group is to introduce the sport of swimming and develop an enthusiasm for swimming. Swimmers must be comfortable in the water and able to float on their backs without assistance to start in this group.

Minimun requirment to join CAC first level: 

-Get in/out of the pool independently 

-Tread the water for 60 seconds without touching the bottom ( we practice in deep pool )

-25 yards Backstroke kick in streamline position

-25 freestyle kick with kick board , be comfortable with head under water

Novice C

This group is for swimmers ages 5-7. The focus of this practice group is to develop the swimmer’s stroke skills (  Freestyle, Backstroke, Start and Flip turns ) and their enthusiasm for swimming. Swimmers must be able to swim 25 yards backstroke with the correct technique to start in this group.

Novice B

Swimmer ages 6-8, who have some or no competitive swimming experience and would like to continue to refine their swimming skills. Swimmers have already learned the basics of freestyle, backstroke, flip turn and starts . In this group the swimmers will learn the technique of Breaststroke and Butterfly kick.

Novice A

This group is for young swimmers 12 & under, who are ready to learn more advanced stroke techniques.  Participation in other activities besides swimming is still strongly encouraged.  Swimmers compete in swim meets, particularly inter-squad and USA swimming events.

Age Group

This training group is designed to introduce and advance swimmers, 12 & under, in year-round swimming. Correct stroke mechanics are emphasized at all times in this group, and as stroke skills improve, swimmers are challenged with more difficult training sets. Swimmers are encouraged to enjoy their swimming and to begin to focus more on the competitive aspect of the sport. Swimmers in this group should compete in “BB” level swim meets. Swimmers are encouraged to attend 4 of the 5 weekly practices to get the best out of this group.

Junior Silver

This group is designed to meet the needs of  12 to 14 older swimmer’s. Whether you are just getting started in competitive swimming, or if you are a competitive swimmer who is also participating in other sports, the Silver group is for you. The focus of this practice group is to improve the swimmer’s stroke skills and develop their enthusiasm for swimming. Swimmers are given a challenging practice designed to teach them how to be more efficient in the water. Swimmers must be able to swim 25 yards backstroke and freestyle without assistance to start in this group. Meet participation is optional, but encouraged. Swimmers are encouraged to attend 3 of the 4 weekly practices  to get the most out of this group.

Junior Gold

This is a group that will meet the needs of all competitive swimmers ages from 12 to 14 years old  who have a desire to reach the top level of the sport. Swimmers in this group are skilled and experienced athletes who still need to improve their overall level of swimming and should be focused on preparing for the demands of the top teaching group. Swimmers need to be swimming at the BB level for their age group to qualify for this group. Swimmers are encouraged to attend 5 of the 6 weekly practices to get the best out of this group.

Senior Silver

This group is designed to meet the needs of a wide range of 14 & older swimmer’s. Whether you are just getting started in competitive swimming, or if you are a competitive swimmer who is also participating in other sports, the Silver group is for you. The focus of this practice group is to improve the swimmer’s stroke skills and develop their enthusiasm for swimming. Swimmers are given a challenging practice designed to teach them how to be more efficient in the water. Swimmers must be able to swim 50 yards without assistance to start in this group. Meet participation is optional, but encouraged. Swimmers are encouraged to attend 3 of the 4 weekly practices to get the most out of this group

Senior Gold

This is the top level of CAC, practice group for 14 & older swimmers coached by the Head Coach. Practices are scheduled six days per week, and some morning practices may be required. Correct stroke mechanics are emphasized in each practice session, as swimmers are developed to improve and become the best athlete possible. Space in this group is limited, and swimmers who meet the minimum performance requirements may be assigned to other groups until space becomes available. Swimmers are expected to attend all practice sessions and scheduled competitions.
