Training Groups

The Mariner Swimming team philosophy supports and empowers youth swimmers at all skill levels to learn, train, compete, improve and excel at competitive swimming under the umbrella of USA Swimming. The following descriptions outline the team’s seven practice groups, focusing on the skills and requirements necessary to participate in each and progress within the team.

These groups are designed to encourage each swimmer to rise to the challenge of increasing their skill, endurance and speed while enjoying the comradery of their fellow age-group swimmers and the Mariner Swimming family. While these criteria serve as a reliable guideline, all group placements are made with the individual swimmer in mind at the discretion of the Mariner head coach and coaching staff. If you have any questions about your child’s placement or progress, please contact their primary group coach or the head coach.
