The Casco Bay YMCA Stripers swim in two different leagues. The YMCA Swimming/ the Maine YMCA Swim League and USA Swimming/ Maine Swimming. The good thing is, they both use the same rule book.

A USA Swimming official can officiate a YMCA meet, but can not be the meet referee and there must be at least 1 YMCA official as the meet referee. A YMCA official can not officiate at a USA Swimming meet. 

To become a YMCA official: you must take the YMCA officials course. Normally there is only one or two a year offered in October though December in the state of Maine. ​The YMCA of Southern Maine will reimburse their officials for their expense. They also can be reimbursed by Maine Swimming for officiating at championship meets.
