How The Atlantis Evaluation Card Works

Purpose of the Card

This card is to give swimmers necessary technical feedback that will allow them to focus their attention, track their progress and transition smoothly between groups.

Technical Aspect of Stroke

The specific sequence of actions or performance within a stroke we are expecting to see occurring. All Technical Aspects of Stroke have a corresponding video in the Video Library!

General Skill

Specific actions that are expressed throughout multiple strokes, certain milestones or knowledge needed to properly function within the group.

5,4,3,2,1

Coaches will observe the swimmer over a specific distance:

25-50yds speedster,

25-75yds bronze,

25-125yds silver,

25-150yds gold

and give each technical aspect of stroke a score that correlates to the amount of time over that distance that the desired aspect occurred. 5 = 100% of the time, 1 = 20% of the time or less.

(5)

The embolden parenthesed number below each technical aspect of stroke is the score that is necessary to transition into the next group.

Swimmers must achieve all the necessary scores in order to advance into the next group. It is recommended that swimmers spend the time between their first evaluation where they score all the necessary scores to advance in their current group, try to move all remaining non(5) scores to (5) and then transition after the next evaluation in that group takes place.
