Swim Groups

The Grosse Pointe Gators are an all inclusive swim team under the guidance of USA Swimming.  We have swimmers of all ages and abilities.  Swimmers will be separated into groups based on their skill levels and in some cases, their age.  Below are a list of guidelines that must be followed in order to be placed in a specific group.  A swimmer will only be placed in that group by a coach after they can demonstrate proficiency in these skills.  Our coaching staff makes the final decision on placement in these groups.  We are asking parents to keep their swimmers in the group they are in until a coach lets them know it is OK to move to another group.  If you are new to the Gators, please reach out to either John Fodell (Head Coach) at headgator83@gmail.com or Tony Grice (Assistant Head Coach) tonyg2f@yahoo.com about an evaluation for your swimmer.  The evaluation will determine which group your swimmer should start out in. Our coaching staff wants each swimmer to reach their maximum potential in each group.  We would appreciate cooperation by our families with this group structure and guidelines.

Also, we ask that swimmers arrive at the pool, 15 minutes prior to the start of their practice time.  All swimmers need to be prepared, with their equipment, to get into the water at the starting time of practice.
